Today Nintendo has announced its new President.
The man seems to be perfectly capable of following Iwata's vision and goals. He has worked with the company for a long time. Much luck to Nintendo and congrats on the new president!
Why are you getting dislikes? This site is embarrassing. OT: I wish him the best of luck running Nintendo, I'm sure he will do a great job having previously ran the Pokemon Company.
The mainstream N4G fanboys believe that if one specific console and company isn't dominating the entire market, then something is wrong with the world...
he seems like the obvious choice and the right one
Follow Iwata's goals? You make it seem like Iwata was the founder of the company. Iwata's ways were absolutely different from the man who pteceded him. And I hope the next guy is more like that other man than Iwata. I don't want to see an Iwata part 2. Hell nooooooo!
I also wish him the best of luck. Hopefully he can steer Nintendo in a direction where they listen to their fans while they still have some.
Good luck to him and congratulations.
Very exciting, hope he lives up to his predecessor. Wondering how different Nintendo will become. Only concerning thing for me is that he's very old already, at 65 that's pretty much the age people retire.
I would not want to take on this kind of role at that age. Hopefully he can find a better way to incorporate Nintendo into the modern market.
Nice to know that Nintendo has finally settled that out. Here's hoping he leads the company into a positive different future
I thought they were going to make Reggie president. Guess I was wrong. Hope it works out and I hope NX is successful.
uh no. Reggie doesn't make any decision other than overseeing America.
You're right. Wow.. I feel pretty stupid now. That was a dumb comment lol
it was. I don't know what made you think that lol
Dude looks like a Yakuza.
Hope to see him in Ninty's Directs :)
He's taking Nintendo back to their gambling and sex hotel roots
So Mario's casinos party and Mario's sexhotel. ;) LOL Now that's funny.
The long awaited sequel to the CD-i classic Mario Hotel Good to see Nintendo's reaching out for mature audiences
The dude is 65? Come off it nintendo, hes practically a dinosaur lol we need a young president for Petes sake and some one who is in touch with modern technology!! Also I would love them to get rid if reggie or demote him. We need a western president to control Nintendo in the west like how we had Howard Lincoln. This is bad, a 65 year old means yet again Nintendo will probably not get with the times! 😂😂
Although it would be nice to see a younger face in the seat for many years to come. It's pretty discriminating of you to think that he knows nothing of technology just because he's older. Steve Jobs was getting up in age, but he still had more than enough vision for Apple!
Yes i agree about steve jobs but that guy was not yiour average person. Hiroshi yamauchi was also a visionary like jobs, but like i said i would prefer some one younger and more in touch. I am sorry but an average 65 year old will not be better then some one younger who uses modern tech. I dont want to come across as discriminating, but lets be real here. One of nintendos biggest problems today is they are out of touch with the modern core gamers, hence why they have lost market share of core gamers every generation (wii soccer mums dont count) lol This guy is no steve jobs or hiroshi yamauchi (nintendos best former leader) But after finding out he lives in america maybe he is what they need, but again i would prefer a younger person so they can make long term decisions. This guy is 65 allready and will retire soon more then likely. Better a younger more western focused guy takes charge and can make more long term decisions.
Great leaders listen to their people. If he is a capable leader, his vision will be shaped by all those around him.
This guy's primary influence was in the Gamecube era which is easily Nintendo at their most progressive and mature, even if not their most successful. In terms of background and his history in the company he is definitely more like Yamauchi than Iwata. Yamauchi was a business man over everything and had little passion for games, whereas Iwata was making games before he was CEO. Truthfully Iwata is WAY more like Steve Jobs than Yamauchi was, he made many risks with his hardware by trying to make it appeal to more people and produced much success this way, like Jobs. Yamauchi basically made one risk: entering the industry in the first place, and played it safe from there. Their handling of failure is also much different: whereas Yamauchi left 1 year into the Gamecube's life, Iwata was trying to fix the Wii U and Nintendo's problems until he literally died.
This is actually pretty good news and maybe an indication of Nintendo's future direction. Yes he is older, but the man use to be president of NOA and he currently resides in Redmond Washington. So where other head Nintendo figures might have been out of touch with Western gaming trends, kimishima lives with Western culture everyday...
Now will you (Nintendo) make and release Pokémon Stadium RPG with open-world and HD graphics for once? Not buying a wii u for your pathetic shovelware and stupid amiibo kiddy toys aka DLC.
I think your pajamas may be too tight..
How are you going to call amiibo's kiddy and yet have the nerve to ask for a pokemon game for Wii U? Pokemon is as kiddy as it gets.
Toys are for kids. Pokémon video games are for every age. Get with it.
Pokemon games are meant for kids, the same way the cards are. Denying that fact will not change that.
So people over at NeoGaf posted some translations 1) The Nikkei quotes new Nintendo boss Kimishima as saying there won’t be changes in the basic strategy set up by former president Iwata. 2) Kimishima says the challenge is now to identify new projects+cultivate the right human resources to reach Nintendo-like profits again. 3) The Nikkei also quotes Nintendo’s Genyo Takeda as saying the aim is to establish a future-proof group leadership system inside Nintendo. What is most exciting to hear is that Shinya Takahashi has been promoted to Miyamoto's old job and is basically in charge of the future direction for future Nintendo software development(which he has produced a very impressive resume of games to one day be the future president of Nintendo). Both Miyamoto and Takeda are taking more advisory rolls within the company, so they definitely aren't the driving force in NX hardware and software. Platinum Games raved about their interactions with Takahashi as he fully let Platinum be Platinum while making Bayonetta 2. The fact that he was the producer of Fire Emblem Awakening as well makes him my favorite shoe in to lead Nintendo into the future. Kimishima will do Iwata's current vision proud, but Takahashi will lead Nintendo into a new Era for the company... Also does anyone find it odd that this information is coming out now? Is it a sign of new information coming soon from Nintendo about the future of the company? Hopefully we hear something relatively soon
It would have been Nintendo Direct time a while ago, so I think we might be getting something of the like soon enough.
I hope he changes the companies view on gaming.. Nintendo made a bad name for themselves hardware wise and a lot of people felt ripped off when they didnt get the core games they were looking for.. Iwata was a good man but his views didnt embrace the modern worlds needs. Maybe this new guy can change it around from people thinking its just a kids machine to an all around gaming machine powerhouse like super nintendo was!
I really want to see Nintendo back!!
