Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s London had to, “wait for the technology to catch up”

GR:
Ever since we first explored the vast Kingdom of the original Assassin's Creed, we've known the series was always going to get bigger. From Brotherhood's richly varied Rome to Black Flag's open-ocean, AC loves a bit of scope. So it's fitting that this year's Assassin's Creed Syndicate is aiming for the most ambitious setting yet, Victorian London. In the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, creative director Marc-Alexis Côté from new lead studio Ubisoft Quebec explains that Syndicate's vast and vibrant city dwelling (which will make its PC debut a whole month after the PS4 version) wasn't possible until the arrival of current-gen tech. The same tech that brought Ubisoft Montreal's bustling Parisian metropolis to life in last year's offering, Unity.

The lighting is the best I've ever seen in a game. http://gfycat.com/Unsightly...

Have you played MGS 5: The Phantom Pain? It looks way better than that.

InMyOpinion1041d ago

In this case it's factual evidence. ;)

I don't think opinions work with lighting. Either it's done right or it's not. The lighting in that gif you posted didn't look anything special. The lighting here though looks pretty damn good! http://mgoforums.com/conten...

Sure it looks great but have you seen the final game? have you learned nothing from ubishits history?

phallusitator1041d ago

People said a lot of the same about Watch Dogs and then...

Yeah, sure. Looks pretty much the same as Unity except it's set in London.

GreetingsfromCanada1042d ago

Yeah, that's what it said in the article. They couldn't do Unity last gen and they can't do Syndicate last gen.

If there was one good thing about Unity, it was the stunning graphics....

Unity looks bad on consoles and has major popin everywhere

Skin in ubisoft games looks like a cloth texture. They went around blowing a horn because they had 100 people on screen, but from playing the game, its a nuisance more than a core feature.

You're rarely going to be running through the streets because you'll always be bumping into people, preventing you from running. Stealth in crowds has been pointless thus far as well because a smoke bomb is enough to get you out of anything. Lets not even talk about the bad controls where you need to hold right trigger to climb anything from a knee-high ledge to a wall. Good luck trying to sneak around when you're faced with a small wall and your character climbs and leaps off of it and lands right in the middle of enemies.

Unity blows, and I have no idea why people look forward to these games anymore. I got the game for $10 on sale and I can't even bring myself to finish it

I hated the washed out look of Unity. That was my only gripe. The interiors looked amazing but outside looked completely washed out.

What are these games about anymore, played the first three bit they just seem way off from what they used to be. Maybe i need to play them again.

Kalebninja1042d ago

You didn't play 4? That game was fantastic but after 3 they dropped the present day story basically. There's still bits and pieces of present day events but they don't even seem like they matter anymore.

thejigisup1042d ago

The present day aspect really made me feel as if i was working toward something. Im lost on the story. Maybe its kinda like the FF series where they arent really tied together except by name.

Kalebninja1042d ago

They didn't want to end the story so they killed Desmond in 3 and just ignored it going forward so they could keep making games without an end in sight.

Detox0241042d ago

I'm sorry but you have fooled me enough. The only reason I liked black flag was for the pirates ships. Assasins creed has terrible stories and still the same gameplay as the first ill try this one when it cheapens out in a year or two

annoyedgamer1042d ago

BUHAHAHAHA More like we had to wait a year to rehash our last game and change the city.
