Austin Wintory, the Grammy-nominated composer behind Journey and The Banner Saga will be lending his talents to scoring the new Assassin's Creed game, Syndicate.
I'm a little excited but Unity was SO BAD that I'm not that excited.
That's a naive way to look at things. AC1 sucked and the sequel turned out to be one of the best sequels of last gen.
Then I'm sure I'll add it to my library on Google Play Music. Still not buying this game. I love II and IV. The series is so hit or miss that I won't buy at launch. Renting first. Deciding from there.
So true. I loved AC 1, AC 2 and AC 4 with a passion, but as you say they are very hit or miss. Hopefully Ubisoft will do the right thing one day and give AC a long break. Its a fantastic franchise and would benefit from not being an annual release.
But they'll be keeping the recycled gameplay (some from an entirely different freaking game in Watch Dogs), common enemy health bars like it's a hack-and-slash game, and leaving out chaining combat kills—one of the features that stood out and put AC on the map—for the second straight game. I'm with Legion; I'll listen to the soundtrack though.
"But they'll be keeping the recycled gameplay (some from an entirely different freaking game in Watch Dogs)", Do you even know what Watch Dogs is? Because it seems like you really don't. Also chain kills were put in Brotherhood, the third game.
What? Yeah..it's a game..by Ubisoft.. Go bring up three youtube videos of Unity, Dogs, and Syndicate and check out the running animations. It's merely a single example of their penchant for recycling and corner-cutting. Additionally, thanks for your display of factual knowledge of the history of chaining combat I guess? My statement stands. Chaining combat was "one of the features that stood out" as well as "put AC on the map." Both completely accurate, subjective to be sure, but accurate. The only amendment I'd make to my post would be "HELPED put AC on the map" as that gameplay feature helped build it to its heights.
Journey's OST is amazing. This actually elevates Syndicate in my mind. At least the score will be amazing.
The AC games have always had quality scores, looks like that tradition will continue with this one. Hopefully they deliver on the gameplay front, won't be day 1 for me anymore although I'm a fan of the series overall.
My expectations for this game are really low because of how Unity turned out
Unity played fine on my PC and was actually a pretty good game. Looked amazing too.
But how about the story?
