Stevivor -- "Ubisoft and Microsoft today confirmed that Australia will have local servers for the upcoming Rainbow Six: Siege."
That's great news for my oz cousins. Wonder if NZ benefits as well.
In so much that you'll be using them instead of servers in Asia. :) (I'd wager this, at least.)
Excellent news! I hope this becomes more of a trend here in Australia.
Interesting, in 2 ways -The first example of Microsoft's Azure being leveraged for the PS4 -The first example of Ubisoft doing something right this gen (ish, Rayman Legends was pretty good). Sounds like it is only being used in the simplest way, and only in Australia, but it will prove the concept and could lead to similar partnerships on a bigger scale. Quality dedicated server support on more 3rd party games can only be good.
Good ol Azure... so far every game that's launched on their servers has launched clean - crucial for a game like Rainbow Six where split-second decisions can be the difference between a win or a loss. I didn't play online much before getting my XO - just a bit of Team Fortress 2 and some GTA online - so I can only imagine how bad pings were before dedicated servers and Azure... Now I get 40-60ms and I'm in Tasmania!
