Hardcore Gamer: Black Ops III is set to be a good game, but will it be the revolution the franchise sorely needs?
Why do i keep hearing the word "revolutionary" used to detract from shooters lately? name a single game in the past year or next year that is "revolutionary".
The only game I can really think of is MGS5, there has never been an open world infiltration game of its scale before, with so many ways of completing missions.
MGS5 is the is the ideal representation of a lot of modern AAA gaming concepts, but i wouldnt call it revolutionary.
Far Cry 3 and 4?
Crackdown 3 will be revolutionary with it's use of the cloud.
If it works, yes, it will be.
This game doesn't have to be revolutionary to be good. Super Mario Galaxy 2, God of War 3, and Halo: Reach weren't revolutionary installments in their respective franchises and they were still critically acclaimed titles.
Why, after 10 iterations of the same basic formula, would COD need to be revolutionary. If you really feel that strongly, you should have said something a long time ago.
Cod is a child's game nowadays. You don't need skill to play it.
Actually, you need skill to master it but there are definitely a lot more kids playing COD nowadays.
Disagree. Yes its skill requirement is lower because of its low shot to kill falafel but the latest one does balance it a lot better than many of the previous games. The specialist abilities add some depth too.
Fun and revolutionary are way different things. Most people don't care whether a game, especially CoD players, do something revolutionary. They just want to sit and play competitive gaming
Call of Duty hasn't been revolutionary since CoD 4 Modern Warfare. The Call of Duty franchise is not a bad one, but an extremely tired one. The single player portions are very cinematic and high budget. But the multiplayer is repetitive and boring to me personally. Doesn't matter how many Exo suits you add.
Of course Call of Duty isn't revolutionary. They come out with a new Call of Duty literally every year. Yes, I know they alternate between Infinity Ward and Treyarch, but it still doesn't stop the games from being repetitive. If you are looking for revolutionary gameplay you are best looking at either new IPs or franchises that don't see annual releases.
Most new IP's are just knock-offs of established/popular IP's.
The MP was ok, had some fun. But like most are saying, it's not as fun as it used to be. For one the future stuff is getting played out. Plus I got to thinking about what made the other CODs fun, and the favorite to me was MW 2. And I think the thing I missed the most are the kill streaks( yes I know, we complained about them at that time) but damn, when some called in a jet, the other team went running or tried to shoot it down, or when you heard AC 130 in the air, you got the hell out of dodge. Our the dogs in WAW... That was good times, not to mention the epic battles in the choke points on most stages. Mostly all that is missing in the recent CODs, killstreaks are almost a non issue, and when there is one no one really pays attention, in fact most of the time I don't really realize one is going on I till I'm dead. Stages are boring as well, mostly bombed out buildings or buildings and then there's some buildings.... I hope BO 3 is better than the last three CODs.
Ah MW2.....no cod comes close to that. The tactical nuke. The sheer tension getting that.
Ahh! Those nukes, only got two, but boy the tendon trying to get those was fun.
A good title stands on its own merits.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops III is Fun".....I stopped reading right there , there is no "but" ....its fun , that's why I play games....not "its fun but we found out the fps drops some " or "its fun but we found out its only 900p"....it's fun , nuff said...
Not sure why people still keep expecting COD to be revolutionary when the overwhelming majority of games that have come out alongside COD aren't. Is it just an easy way to jab at the game now?
Not buying black ops 3, its good though
I guess I'm done with cod. It's just all the same what's not bad at all. But I just don't got the need anymore that I want to play it. This year I'll play halo.
I've done with CoD series after playing BO2. Normally thuis series makes me fun and i wanted to play MP. But after Bo2 [i didn't play BO1] all i sad was: Stop. This games looked like maked on chair w/o any ideas. MP was terrible IMO. I stay with MW2&3 - those series are best before BO. But if U looking for something new and fresh than wait till 20016 when Sniper Ghost Warrior III will release. This title redefines own series and from what i've saw on the net it will be like MGS in FPP:) And thats a thing we call revolution.
Yes because of splitscreen support on the PC
Most of what I read is... "I've been playing since game X" Go do anything for 4+ years and see how "fun" or "revolutionary" the year-to-year iterations may be. I have played: COD2 thru BO2 (I got out of BO2 after a few months). Since then I haven't played much of Ghosts or AW aside from single player (which took 10 hours per). Never went into MP. I decided to try out the beta for BO3 and found it… very refreshing. It wasn’t the same, to me, as BO2 and prior. I was reminded of the quick-sniping, the running, the gunning, the burst guns, etc. I enjoyed the wall-running and specialists. The UAV didn’t seem to be this ominous thing that ruins matches like I remember. Maybe my expectations were lower? But I think some of you should take a couple games off and try it out again. I’ll be buying BO3 and putting in time into like I haven’t for about 3-4 years.
