Forbes:
There. Is. No. Reason. To. Ever. Pre-Order.
Once upon a time when physical copies of games were scarce, it might have been smart to reserve your copy ahead of time. But now, there’s just no reason for it. Digital sales means anyone can get a game at launch with no problem at all, and the industry has expanded to the point where it’s a very rare occurrence that even a big-name game will be sold out at launch at retail, between the rise of digital games and digital sellers.
The Epic Games Store has a new free game, and they want to augment your life with it.
GF365: "Here are our picks for the eight best sci-fi RPGs. Science fiction is a great genre for any medium of entertainment. These games are the best in the genre."
The og deus ex is magical. Im also very exited about mass effect legendary edition from the gp. Its next on my playlist never played mass effect game before.
Why aren't there more? A Star Trek RPG for one. Or something with non humanoid aliens?
I really hope Naughty Dog is doing a Sci-Fi game. As a lover all most things RPG I would love to see Naughty Dog quality in an RPG.
Mary DeMarle led narrative on modern Deus Ex games and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Hopefully it's for lead writer on Mass effect. But that would mean it's way off.
Regardless...i mostly loved Guardians for the story so it's a good get from Bioware.
I wonder if Embracer group is slimming down Crystal Dynamics...
Well Bioware has fallen so far off, its finally good to see them getting some talent where they need it most. First order of business: FIX MASS EFFECT story....immediately
It's a weird world when the people who pay only get bits of a game but pirates get the whole game without paying... how does that work exactly... When someone goes to buy a game, they expect the whole thing to be there, not to get roped into some campaign promotion malarkey.
Day -4 Edition.
And I thought the Advanced Warfare promotion was dumb.
I wonder how many people are going to roll over for this preorder, and how many of these people will tell me, "Hey, they aren't forcing you to preorder!" as their sole counter argument.
This is absolutely sickening. The part that really gets me, above anything relating to the actual prices of the content, or the quality of the content itself is the fact that you have to choose which content you want.
Who would have thought that "an additional mission" or a different gun or skin would suddenly prompt a publisher to say, "well, that's too easy. How about we let our fan base become recruiters, out to get more people to pre order so they themselves can unlock more stuff, and on top of that, let's give those said customers the ability to play the game 4 days early, so they can spoil it for everyone with letsplay or blabber about it online. But most importantly, unless said customer reaches that fifth tier, let's simply restrict everything they can buy, because it's not enough that they preordered a game that may or may not be good, let's make sure they work for every unlockable they get, so each individual hair on Jensen's beard becomes a microtransaction in and of itself."
Behind Mass Effect, Deus Ex was probably my favorite game last gen. So the sequel announcement was music to my ears. But I will in no way be supporting this. I think it's terrible. And so is the pricing on the Collectors Edition. Sad and disheartening.
"There is no reason to ever preorder."
Gonna call bullshit on that one, given how hard it is the majority of the time to go after Limited Editions of games. The MGSV Limited Edition alone was a headache, but I'm glad I preordered it.
This scheme for seemingly no real benefit though is disgusting. There's always someone out there trying to ruin a perfectly okay thing.
