Ben Shaw from We Know Gamers reminisces on Lost Odyssey and why the game stuck in his mind all these years.
Amazing game Jansen has to be one of my favourite characters in a JRPG. He had a good voice actor behind him and his lines were a little funny during some of the serious moments in the game Plus I loved how his relationship with Ming evolved being the ladies man he is. The true Final Fantasy 13 of last gen. It did everything better then it
Lost Odyssey was amazing. I hope we get a sequel.
Yep, great game. Microsoft should make the sequel. X1 needs more JRPG's.
"Mistwalker has moved away from making console games" Time for MS to dump loads of that mythical money on this developer's head to make a sequel to this game.
"Time for MS to dump loads of that mythical money on this developer's head to make a sequel to this game." Just a little side note, as it wasn't Mistwalker who actually developed Lost Odyssey but rather feelplus. History lesson. Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Infinite Undiscovery were all originally being developed in-house by Microsoft's Japanese studio but ended up being outsourced once the decision was made that the studio would be shut down. Mistwalker was brought onto the scene by MS due to Sakaguchi's name-value and experience with Final Fantasy and to ensure that the development process of the studios actually working on BD and LO (Artoon and feelplus) go smoothly. A possible reason for there not having been a sequel to LO and BD could be possibly be attributed to AQ Interactive (Artoon and feelplus' parent owner) shutting down.
Still have my copy, and Blue Dragon.
Same, just hoping on BC if not I'll get my 360 back out to play them again :D
I still have my 360 too, hehe. No XB1 yet though, but I'm collecting all them free games.
Yeah did that too for both my One and PS4, be mad not to add any of the "free" games :D
I got both Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon for £20 in blockbusters years ago...best £20 ever I kept my 360 mostly for this game so I can play it again...the dream reading sequences are mesmerising
This game had one of the best commercials ever. https://youtu.be/8-x12UEo-r...
Such an amazing game.
Here hoping for BC on Xbox one ...
My hope is that these games (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey) find new life through Games with Gold/Backwards Compatibility. With Microsoft betting big on Scalebound I think they still want big exclusive JRPG games on Xbox and sequels to these are no brainers.
@pelenow GwG/BC for BD and LO will be next to impossible since neither game has a Games on Demand (digital) version available on the Xbox marketplace, as they're both titles that span on multiple discs. It's the same reason why Infinite Undiscovery (another MS JRPG) hasn't been released in digital form. The best hope is that MS decides to one day re-release these games on XB1 in a remastered form. Which would only seem plausible. Image LO & BD with zero loading times in-between battles. Of all the 360 games, LO and BD are the two most deserving of being remastered on XB1 due to being on multiple discs (the Western disc packaging for both LO and BD was terrible).
Well Phil Spencer has said he wants it for BC. So never say never. http://www.dualshockers.com...
I was 45 min in the games and my xbox360 RROD on me :( I was going to get another one; but since Xbone might get it backwards compatible I might just do that instead!
Its a good game but the story is pretty slow paced at parts and the villan felt generic also the battle system felt pretty lackluster (the ring system is the only good thing to talk about it really but i ive seen it before) as far great turn based rpg´s go. The opening is amazing with a stunning presentation but afterwards the game lacks to give that same awe and its very focused on the characters sometimes and it is quite anoying at times but Jansen and Seth were always fun to watch. The 2nd half of the game felt much more linear but the story got alot more interesting in compensation but the gameplay doesnt really pay off all the hard work you put into it because the game gets really easy after lvl 60 or so. A pretty flawed game just like Blue Dragon the writing and gameplay are both underwhelming if you played the classic FF games on PS1 or even other rpg´s from the 90´s. My respect goes to Sakaguchi for the hard work he put in these games but i expected more originality.
Loved this game, best jrpg on the x360 for sure.
Lost Oddyseey was amazing. It perfectly filled the gap back then when there was no good satisfying JRPG in that moment. Plus, with Sakaguchi under direction, the game definitely had a superb feeling. This and Blue Dragon were absolutely awesome.
Lost Odysseey and Blue Dragon were victims of simply being on the wrong platform. If they had released the games on ps3, I think we would have seen a few more rpgs in the past generation and this one.
