Nintendo has announced a Mega Yarn Yoshi Amiibo which is scheduled to release this year on November 27 and will be priced at $39.99.
Oh Wow, Amazing.
that thing is big.. lol
Pretty awesome although I can just buy the other 3 for the same price pretty much.
Bet the scalpers buy them in 2 secs and they put them on ebay for $79.99.
That's a modest estimate.
As a an amiibo scalper, damn straight.
That's adorable but considering I still can't find a Squid Girl amiibo I probably won't be able to get my hands on this either.
Uhh.... I know they're popular. And i'm probably daft for even commenting. But WTF. And that price...!
$40? No thanks..
Good lord, the thing's practically a bed-time plushie at that size.XD I'm sure it'll be a collector's item, though, and compared to certain name-brand dolls I've seen elsewhere down here in Cali, that's actually cheap. Especially for something that's 100% yarn at that size, with NFC tech, on top of being such a popular character... I've seen similar stuff in antique shops near old town Tustin go for upwards of $70, in fact.
And there you have it ladies and gentlemen... Nintendo has taken a popular item it owns, and is now using it incorrectly for charging you $40 for a optional piece of game DLC... Well done Nintendo... I think this is a new low even for you?
I would pay $60 to have this Badass yoshi on my shelf. Speak for yourself I think this is a fine price. Hopefully I can find one but knowing Nintendo won't happen.
Yeah, Nintendo seems more and more lost as time goes on. An amiibo for $40 is just one more example of how far they've fallen.
He's huge! What a good price for what appears to be very well made character, the colors and textures in the yarn look top notch! Oh, you don't need this particular plushie to access double-Yoshi in the game schiller..
Considering the normal sized one does the exact same thing making this merely for collection purposes, I see no reason to call this a new low. It's not essential. You don't need to spend money on it; just get the smaller one and your complaints immediately hold no merit. Now if they were, say, locking huge amounts of needed content behind it, like needed abilities or storyline content or something, THEN I could understand bashing it.
Er, you don't need the huge Yoshi version for the content, (in case you didn't read the article).
I disagree. I think the amiibo support in Yoshi's Wooly World is the best use so far in a game. "Double Yoshi" is basically playing the 2-player game as a single player. The content is already there and is free for anyone to access, provided they want to play with a second person. If you cannot or do not want a second person, you can substitute that second player with your amiibo. I'm not sure if I will pay $40 for the mega Yarn Yoshi though. I think I'll stick with the "whatever Yarn Yoshi I can actually find" amiibo.
