While Naughty Dog co-founders Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin are widely regarded as being the creators of iconic PlayStation mascot Crash Bandicoot, a group of video game designers who worked on the original game feel they’ve not been given the credit they deserve.

Thats quite an interesting ordeal. I am sad they didnt get the credit they deserve but right now they have a big opportunity to do something with Kickstarter. Make their own Crash Bandicoot.

With all the ideas and concepts they have, they can make a great game like Crash a reality again.

Sony really are missing a trick not moving heaven and earth to buy the rights to crash

Crash is the PlayStation mascot..

breakpad1206d ago (Edited 1206d ago )

to be honest ..i was expecting Crash Bandicoot to have been bought back by Sony and be revealed in E3 with all these references in official trailers etc ..but i was wrong...Still i hope for Crash bandicoot return by Sony ...all these clear easter eggs in trailers are not for nothing..FFVII remake confirmed , SfV exclusive confirmed .. only Crash remains from that first 'For the Players "trailer that has not been announced yet

Sony probably tried to buy the rights back to Crash but Activision is probably giving them a hard time. There were hints and rumors that Sony might have bought Crash back and Crash might be returning to PlayStation though so maybe we will get an announcement in the near future

I'll just leave this right here

scark921206d ago

If Crash shows up at Playstation Experience! I would go crazy!

IIFloodyII1206d ago (Edited 1206d ago )

I'll probably get a lot of disagrees for this, but I think Sony know it'll just lead to disappointment if they do get it back, as they have no one to develop it (Naughty Dog won't before someone says they will, just go read up why they canned Jak 4), so they aren't going to throw a lot of money at it (Activision won't let it go cheap), when it'd be better spent just investing into their studio's new stuff.

I just hope Activision don't turn him into a Skylander, he deserves better than that.

Perjoss1206d ago

I agree, who knows what a good Crash game would be like now if given to the right team. Always makes me a little sad inside when you think about what happened to characters like Crash and Sonic.

CyanocittaCristata1206d ago (Edited 1206d ago )

Look at Yooka-Laylee. If they good get a small but talented team together rebooting Crash would be pretty easy. A Kickstarter would no doubt reach it's goal within no time

If Sony themselves made the game then it would be basically be printing money. There would be no bigger nostalgia kick than seeing Crash back and exclusively on PlayStation

breakpad1206d ago

@IIfloodyII agree a newly made Crash even from Sony could be easily a flop (like the Jak 4 concepts from ND) but KNack gave a good example of what can be done with proper attention in development ...Knack was a very solid platform ..but with terrible concept art ...if for a new Crash could rehire the old artists, specially Zembillias, probably it would be a well made AAA game

Hoffmann1206d ago

Right now would be a perfect time to buy the IP and make a great Crash Bandicoot game.

The not so good Crash games by Activision are almost forgotten, they have the very successful Playstation 4 but have no direct answer to something like Mario or Donkey Kong on the WiiU and maybe the NX in the next years. While there are tons of indie 2D platformers, a new "AAA" Crash Bandicoot game would be loved by maybe millions of those who remember Crash from the past and also younger players that want to play a good platformer on the Playstation 4.

Crash could also mean a big competition for Mario kart again of course

Man that sucks. Then again, the same can be said about any game ever, where most of the credit go to the known directors and such.

TrollityTroll1206d ago

Exactly, Look at CliffyB and Gears. Or David Jaffe and God of War.
Sorry but it's just the way it goes. You get listed in the credits but what more do they expect? Personal thanks during an internationally televised event or something?
Guess what, it happens in other entertainment media. Musicians on records, movies are generally just the actors, director and producer (with a handful of people in other areas put forward for oscars, which most people don't even follow cause they're only interested in the "big 4").
Personally I have no idea who the designers were for Kill Bill or LoTR or any of the other movies I enjoy.

KryptoniteTail1206d ago

People moved on. CB is overrated anyway. I wouldn't be against a new game but nnot by ND, wasted resources there.

TwoForce1206d ago

It's not overstated, you fool.

elarcadia1206d ago

You obviously are not old enough to have enjoyed the original Crash games. Those, along with Spyro and Jak and Daxter truly paved the way for a new kind of platformer.

KryptoniteTail1205d ago

I am 28. They're definitely overrated in my book. Nintendo is pretty much the only system to have good games for kids on their consoles (which are really for everyone, like Mario and DK).

Crash? More like Crash and Burn. Dude is dead. Even ND stated they don't want anything to do with CB so why should I?

I respect it as a competent franchise and that people enjoy it. I just dislike it. It isn't like I don't want him around for nostalgia, he shouldve been in PSASBR for sure.

tigertron1206d ago

Sony really needs to buy Crash off Craptivision.

Relientk771206d ago

Sony buying back Crash Bandicoot would be amazing
