Ranking the Metal Gear Solid Games

Paste: "Metal Gear Solid sure is a strange duck. Writer/designer Hideo Kojima’s signature work isn’t just one of the most famous series of games ever made. It also has the unique honor of being one of the saddest and wackiest as well, a pile of games willing to tackle the ramifications of gamifying the military and to ask what it means to leave behind a meaningful legacy…while making scat jokes and letting you use peepholes in Porky’s-like fashion. There is perhaps no better series that manages to chart the ambitious highs and juvenile lows of videogames. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, supposedly the last one, is just around the corner so let’s take a look back and settle once and for all which Metal Gear Solid game is the best."

MGS3 for me :) Big Boss i better than solid snake by far IMO

I like Solid Snake because despite being wronged over and over, he always tried to come up with the best solution

1. MGS1

2. MGS2

3. MGS3

4. MGS4

I figure MGSPP will take 7th and bump GZ down to 8th.

If we're counting all MG games, then it goes:

MGS1, 2, Acid 1, Acid 2, MGSGB, MG1, MG2, MGS3, and then the rest in previous order.

All I know is that MGS3 is the best, followed by MGS

For me:
1. MGS1
2. MGS3
3. MGA!2
6. MGS2
8. MGR
9. MGS:GB <- Oh my god. NOW I get why it was called Ghost Babel. I feel so stupid.
10. MGS4
11. MG2
12. MG1

If somebody wanted to play only two to "Get" the series, I'd say just play MGS1 and MGS3. The others won't top them - But I love the story so I'd play all of them. But from experience, They're the best in my opinion.

From the article regarding the original MG1 and 2: "Unfortunately both games are hard to revisit (or play for the first time) simply because they haven’t aged that well."

What?! This is entirely subjective, but I disagree whole-heartedly. I played the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 via an MSX2 emulator (using translation patches) for the very first time just a few years ago, and they were effing phenomenal. They definitely aged well if, like me, you have an appreciation for the 8-bit era.
