Activision today revealed that it is planning to release future iterations in the Guitar Hero and Call of Duty franchises during 2009.
now a call of duty game for me to look forward to
OMG YES!!! COD4 2 WILL PWN!!
A call of duty every year?
thats why there are 2 different developers so they can keep them coming out every year, hope the next goes futuristic or modern agian
Begun, the milking of two franchises has, that great been have.
while i'm sure there will be multiple SKU's of guitar hero every year, i don't know if call of duty will get the same treatment, because i remember reading that Infinity Ward will be the only developer of the franchise as part of their new contract with activision (or something like that) i found a link, but the story has been updated and says that what i just said is false. oh well: http://www.gamepro.com/news...
I agree with you on that i hope they come out with another modern or futuristic CoD again b/c the way they made CoD5 as a WW2 thing was stupid. And i liked the way they had all the cool technology in CoD4.
its not like cod5 will be bad i would just rather it be in modern or futuristic
I'd rather they spend time making a quality game every other year like they did with COD 4, rather than turn it into a cash crop franchise. If MGS 4 proved anything, patience is bliss.
Talk about milkin it
OMG THERE IS A NEW CALL OF DUTY AND GUITAR HERO IN THE WORKS!? WOW I HAD NO CLUE!
There's also a new dreamcast game you can finally buy. lol
bleh... Call of Duty is too generic and they should just keep releasing song packs for GH3.
But that way they can't overcharge you for a bunch of songs of which you will only like a few AND sell a brand new guitar. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the new game wasn't compatible with the old guitars.
once Socom drops...its over
That's right! I like Treyarch better! At least their campaign isn't a six hour joke, just so they can sell a multiplayer game for $60!
But your opinion is just that, an opinion and from the looks of it, your opinion is in fact a minority. Infinity Ward makes the best COD games. From the graphics to the game play, they are just better. If Treyarch could keep from loading up the single player campaign with so many glitches and lousy game play, it would be much better but I have yet to play a decent COD by them.
Why?? this repetitive crap needs to stop there is no reason to make a game every 10 months or so that's basically the same thing with a new title. This is why games disappeared in the first place, because of developers with no imagination. "once Socom drops...its over" Socom is a crap game that wants to be something important, but since it's recognized as a sony game it's just another cash in.
Um...what number is Final Fantasy up to? Not counting all the spin-offs mind you. What number is Dragon Warrior/Quest up to? How many GTA spin-offs are there? Need I go on?
There is a reason. They call it money. How many litlle boys will see people with cool guns and decide to buy the game? How many people who loved the last CoD will buy this one, just because they liked the last one? How many people will buy it, because their friends said "CoD is good" without remembering which number? And lastly, how many parents will buy the game for their kid(s), because they saw they already own another CoD? Take the number of these sales and pit them against the number of people who don't like to get screwed over. You will see that they are still more. Sadly. EDIT: Plus, maybe, just maybe, one of them is actually good. You never know, it might actually happen.
To me it really doesn't make sense to milk a franchise like Call of Duty every year... a new Call of Duty game every 2 or 2 and a half years sounds more realistic. Activision just needs to make Infinity Ward the developer for the Call of Duty series and Treyarch should come out with a new IP. It makes no sense to have 2 different developers working on the same damn franchise when that other developer could be brining something new to gaming like a new IP. Instead of releasing yearly games, developers need to just release one main game and release Expansion packs that are about half the price of a full game to add more stuff to the game the next year or a few months down the road because when it comes to yearly games like Madden, and now Call of Duty, basically you are just paying for the same game all over again with a few upgrades and/or minor changes.
The only reason they do it is because they can 1. Afford to. And 2. They know people will buy it anyway It's just like EA and Madden. They know themselves they're hardling advancing anything in the game, but they know every single year millions will buy the game anyway. So it's a win/win for them.
out in the street they call it murda! Ps3 is the general! Ohhhhhhhhh! Dont even look me wrong when the ps-tre in da hood! ain't nothing changed still hollar at my homies! Ohhhhhhhh! And when hit the blok I still willlllllll! KILL! And I dont want to, but I will if I have to! If you keep PhuckN around? If you keep PHUKN Around! Ohhhhhhhhhhh! YEAH! I still kill, 50cent & Akon. ps-tre ftw!
Milk it some more!
That Infinty Ward has been working on the new COD since the last one went gold. Even prior to it hitting store shelves they more than likely were knee deep in the story boards. So to that, I say that two and a half years is plenty for a top knotch dev to put out another great game. Kudos to IW and good luck with the new COD, I can imagine it will rock.
too early for both sequels
Activision has to compete against Madden for the gaming dollars.Guitar Haro,Tony Hawk, and Call of Duty have got to compete with EA sport titles.
We seen what songs on Rock Band 2 but seen nothing but a few confirmed songs from GHWT does anyone have a link to a confirmed full list for GH. . I thought that there using the same engine that was used to produce COD4 if so i think that COD5 will be pretty good but im kinda getting sick of the WW2 theme why dont they use current news for a game like the 911 tragedy and go from there.
