Definitely going to use that one-time level up, just for the heck of it. So annoying trying to find Light, not sure why they even put that in there in the first place.

Kowsky3172d ago

The level boost should bring you to 25 and then exp from there

GameSpawn3171d ago

Three level 34 characters with too many hours between them. I'm not re-creating anyone.

The light level system was only convoluted in the sense that Bungie never explicitly explained it very well in-game. You had to go to wiki's and Reddit to understand the system. Once you understand it it is easy to exploit it to level up quickly. Each piece of armor can carry up to 42 points of light (VoG armor without Etheric goes to 30 points, Crota Armor without Etheric goes to 36, PoE armor is already 42, and I don't play Trials but I think it is also already 42; all vendor armor currently goes to 36 meaning you need Etheric to get to the 42 max). It takes 4 pieces (@42 each) to reach 34 currently.

Light is not going away. It is still going to be a "soft" level booster as now it will effect additional damage output. The more light you have the more bonus damage you'll do. At least this is a more directly visible effect versus the soft level cap.

i stopped doing POE for these etheric of light thing. I love this game but I feel like it was a slap in the face when they announce that Legendaries wont be carried over. Why the hell did i grind to get these Etheric of light to level up my weapons then?

There is nothing 'like' Destiny right now. And the phrase "Play a better game," is just a matter of opinion, not fact.

I like many games, but Destiny is right now definitely my favourite by far.

I've played Mass Effect all, Diablo (2 & 3), GTAs, Halo (all), Batman (all), Elder Scrolls (4,5 & online), Bloodbourne, Uncharted (all), CoDs (all), Star Wars (all since PCs). I own them all too (I have and still have, 360, PS3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4); loved them all.

But so far, Destiny takes the cake. A game that started good, but became better and better with time. Bungie listens and betters (and even corrects mistakes). Sometimes they take a lot of time to do it. Sometimes just a couple of weeks. But the original Destiny is nowhere to be found, the game is getting bigger and better. Over 800 of playtime and great times and stories with friends! Definitely getting my money's worth. Every single cent.

Can't wait for The Taken King!!! Some friends and I plan to delete one of our characters and start a new one to get the full story with the new Nolan North ghost! It's gonna be awesome!!

Here's the real five things Bungivision wants you to do:
1. Breakdown Fatebringer.
2. Breakdown VOC.
3. Breakdown Black Hammer.
4. Breakdown Found Verdict.
5. Breakdown Word of Crota, etc.

cause all our legendarys we grinded on for a year will be made obsolete in one day. Screw you Bungivision, I don't see any reason why we can't use weapons from year one to year ten, except for your own satisfaction not the gamers satisfaction.

I will not get The Taken King until Bungivision decides to patch in the ability to level up our older legendarys.

There I said my peace.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter331d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood331d ago (Edited 331d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro331d ago (Edited 331d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881331d ago (Edited 331d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell330d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig331d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast331d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername331d ago (Edited 331d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g331d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka331d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai482d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface481d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard479d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
