Should there be tighter controls on the classification of video games?

A consultation on proposals for computer games to receive cinema-style warnings was announced by Culture Minister Margaret Hodge today. Ms Hodge said the burgeoning games market has "outgrown" the classification system.

A new, legally enforceable system of age classification will help to make sure that video games are played by the appropriate age group, giving parents, retailers and consumers the guidance they need to make informed choices, the Government said. Dr Tanya Byron was commissioned by Prime Minister Gordon Brown last year to report on fears that new electronic entertainment may be harming children's moral value systems.

The story is too old to be commented.

...and thats even with all the sh*t thats going on there. But, about the European way of rating games, is it similar to the ESRB? If it is than its probably just fine.
