Konami officially confirms the rendering resolution of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
Didn't we know that already? Ground Zeroes was the same, wasn't it.
Ground Zeroes was 720/60 for Xbox One.
Pretty much confirms PES will be 900p as well.
@MightNoX PES 2016 is confirmed 1080p on both systems
You guys sure are giving Micheal Pachter a run for his money.
I guess that article saying it would be 1080p was way off then. It's annoying when 'journalists' try to pass off hope for facts. Okay, 900p is disappointing, but if that's the only option you have, I'm sure you'll still enjoy it. The game will be great regardless!
How does this keep happening?
Glad its not 720p on the X1. That would suck
Lets be honest. Most of us will be playing this game on PS4 so i personally know i do not care even a little bit about Xbox one misfortunes.
The other article that was stating 1080p 60fps yesterday stated it was "news" not rumor. Guess you can't trust that site again. Which that site also seems to be missing altogether now when you click on the article. Also marked fail. Big day for gamers to hate gamers again. The console wars Continue..
PS4 version for me then :)
@HeisenbergC10H15N, "The same fanboys who was claiming the cloud makes the xbox one the most powerful console will also be eating crow AGAIN. They never learn" what does MGSV 900p resolution got to do with the cloud? FACE palm and LOL It was always a rumor and people get excited and discourage on opposite septrum whenever these type if rumors popped up. glad it is not 720p either like many people also claimed when those articles popped up on the past as well. Same thing happened to Uncharted 4 when it went from 60fps to 30fps or to a lesser extend, Mario Kart 8 from 1080p to 720p. Actually, nobody even cares about the resolution of Mario Kart 8 when it was announced that it was only 720p. LoL BATMAN and Witcher 3 were also 900p on XB1 and they look and run fine. Same will be here. Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't bother me as I am getting the MGSV version on my PS4 either way thay I have pre order months ago but I am glad Konami made the effort to optimize from the demo release of 720p earlier this year for xbox players.
@Genuine-User Yeah, i remember that alot of xbox fans made comments ....if i was one of them i should feel embarrased. @Rookie_Monster "Same thing happened to Uncharted 4 when it went from 60fps to 30fps or to a lesser extend" when that happened ?! ND never showed Uncharted 4 60fps gameplay that went to 30fps after that. they said they will "target" 60fps and seeing the Graphics of the game that no other can match it on consoles other than The Order 1886....I won't blame them at least the MP is 60fps.
@Septic "Glad its not 720p on the X1. That would suck" Why the downplay? If it were 720p, would you say glad it's not 600p? It still sucks that it's 900p and not 1080p.
@chouji "Why the downplay? " Downplaying what exactly? 900p is better than 720 no? Ground Zeroes was 720p that's why its great that its gone up for the Xbox One. Common sense...
@@chouji, Yea, don't get your analogy either. Going from 720p demo to 900p is an upgrade so it is a positive like Septic said. Just like Bungie had the early 900p version of Destiny on XB1 and optimized it to 1080p by release. It is a plus and not a minus. The 1080p claim foe MGSV was just a rumor and not an actual fact that it was actually 1080p at one point for MGSV on XB1 and was then downgraded to 900p so your point holds no water at all against what Septic said. Wow, just noticed the PC version can run a max of 3840x2160. Hmmm, might switch my pre order to the PC version after all.
@Septic "Downplaying what exactly? 900p is better than 720 no? Ground Zeroes was 720p that's why its great that its gone up for the Xbox One. Common sense..." Yes, anyone with common sense would agree 900p is better than 720p. However, that does not negate the fact that they were unable to achieve 1080p with this game, like some other titles have, such as the upcoming Tomb Raider.
@chouji "However, that does not negate the fact that they were unable to achieve 1080p with this game, like some other titles have, such as the upcoming Tomb Raider." Errr...okay? Your comment makes no sense because the fact that it didn't hit 1080p is obvious because...the game is running at 900p? Where am I downplaying it? All I said was Im glad its not 720p and you accused me of downplaying its inferior resolution to the PS4? Even though GZ ran at 720p? You're not making any sense mate.
"@chouji "However, that does not negate the fact that they were unable to achieve 1080p with this game, like some other titles have, such as the upcoming Tomb Raider." Errr...okay? I think I'm making perfect sense. So much so that I know I never once mentioned the PS4.
"what does MGSV 900p resolution got to do with the cloud?" He's talking about boasting about unproven things before they happen. Something along the lines of counting chickens before they hatch. See the Crackdown comments for a game that has yet to be distributed into the wild and tested. Could it work out just like the demo? Maybe. Or maybe the known difficulties of cloud gaming are too much for it to overcome. That's why I try to avoid boasting about PS4 victories that haven't happened yet, even in many cases where common sense would predict such an outcome. I think the closest I've come is offering a bet to a particular troll who kept insisting to me that Xbox would win at least 4 of the last 6 months of 2014 NPD sales. You just end up with egg on your face if it doesn't materialize.
@chouji I think youre failing on some basic reading comprehension mate. "I think I'm making perfect sense. So much so that I know I never once mentioned the PS4." Yes I know but its inferior resolution to the PS4 is a FACT. I simply said that I'm glad it's not 720p...what was the downplaying in that? Just to make it easy to understand; Ground Zeroes ran at 720p. That was basically a demo for this game based on the same engine. So I'm glad its not 720p for the X1, even though Im most likely going to buy this on PS4. Like I said, common sense. If anything, you should reply to the people below who are bringing in thr cloud for god knows what reason...
@choujij. Yes Rise of The Tomb Raider is 1080p, but it is silly to criticise Konami for not achieving the same with Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain, because it's like comparing apples with oranges. MGS:TPP might have more detail (higher frame rate, polygons, shading and other effects) that ROTR doesn't. In fact any basic retro 2D game can achieve 1080p 60fps on Xbox One because it is less demanding on the system.
@The great gamer : PES 16 resolution is still not confirmed to be 1920x1080 (Full HD) on X1.
We will have to see if there were any other impact on graphics or missing effects. Their last game had huge impact with regards to that, so differences were worse than just resolution. @ whole situation with moderator The game resolution was not what it was previously thought to be. Linking previous article that describes that is perfectly within topic. Some moderator had a field day here. Probably was embarrassed to be one eating crows.
See..I can't even get my hopes up for 1080p 60fps anymore. Everytime they say it...they scale it down to stop trolls from trolling in internet comments. It's really annoying. I doubt the ps4 will stay at 1080p. As much as Id like it to. 900p isn't even that bad if your tv isn't 60". I think both resolutions are perfect for each console. That way both console could get the more important factor...60 FPS!!
I thought X1 can manage 1080p now in all AAA games, it seems it still has to evolve more.
It's the fact that MGS5 has opted to do 60FPS which is impressive in itself. So X1 has been doing well lately because most games are 30FPS
If they would only use nimbus it would ....
I think there was some wishful thinking around DX12 that it would bump the resolution or something.
Makes no sense since this game isn't using dx12 at all. Maybe you should research what dx12 is exactly.
Personally I'd prefer [email protected] if I had to choose. I mean you'll spend a lot of this game hiding in a cardboard box, why does it have to be 60fps? I'd prefer increased resolution to spot distant objects and make out enemies better.
No, performance > Resolution always IMO. 60 FPS is just too smooth if I had to choose i'll go with 900p/60FPS instead of 1080p/30PFS. The difference visually between 900p and 1080p its small, some people can't even tell, while the difference between 30fps and 60fps is really noticeable (IMO). In this case I don't have to choose, im getting the PS4 version.
It's not a quick action game. Like I said you'll be standing still, waiting a lot. What does it matter between 30 or 60 in a game of this type? Plus 30 is perfectly smooth when it's rock solid. There is this misconception that a smooth frame rate means a quick framerate. No, it needs to be a consistent framerate. I'd rather have 30 fps that never moves than a framerate that hits 60 occasionally but hovers at 40-50.
Agreed, locked 30FPS its smooth but 60 FPS is a lot more smoother, plus it help the eye to perceive a better image quality. Like I said I rather go with 60FPS than resolution, the difference between 900p and 1080p its not enough to sacrifice 60FPS. I could agree with you if we were talking about 720p, but that is not the case.
I agree to get 1080p 60fps on ps4 they must of cut some corners probably graphically I would of preferred 1080/30fps on this type of game and give the graphics a bigger boost up.
"I'd prefer increased resolution to spot distant objects and make out enemies better." Then get the PS4 version, it is 1080p.
Lmao there is no gameplay advantage with a 900p vs 1080p tangent. Freaking fanboys. If you actually care about this then you would playing on Steam with 1440p @ 60 FPS were the visuals and gameplay impact is night and day.
The official site updated xb1 resolution to 1080p
Just a few weeks ago Konami said the XB1 version was running at 1080P 60fps. Now they are saying something completely different. http://n4g.com/news/1769759... Guess they need to go back and re-optimize the game again. Either that or start using DX12/Win10 API. Curious as to what changed from now and a week ago? Would love to hear Konami's explanation. They obviously aren't using DX12, Win10 or the Cloud with this game.
http://www.quickmeme.com/im... Its going to take a while for developers to start using new API's always has. Unfortunately for the Xbox One the first game using DirectX 12 most likely will not ship for a year or so. DirectX 12 is not like some huge game changer for Xbox One since it already has a low level API. But right now it also has to use the slapped on DX11 based API because Microsoft was not ready to launch the new system. Most 3rd party developers do not use the low level API but the High level one because porting is much easier. If the game is exclusive (only on one platform) it will use the low level api 99% of the time (assuming its on console PC has almost no choice but high level API because of different graphics card vendors). If the game is releasing on 2 or more platforms the high level API will be used. DX11 has very bad multicore support. https://www.youtube.com/wat... So who's fault would it be that Kojima had to use the API. Then you have the PS4 where the High level API has very good multicore support like DX12 and Mantel. PS4 also has a Low level API just like the Xbox one. All this API talk makes me want to resurrect me ol Voodoo card to see if i can get my old Glide API games to work again. lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... Glide back in the day was kind of like AMD's Mantel.
Software is not going to make up for a weaker GPU. Optimize even more and the xbone will have graphics rivaling a Titan GPU on PC, no it doesn't work like that sorry, even with DX15. Optimizing will get you closer to the hardware limit. The more optimizing you do the closer you will get but it will be diminishing returns the more you optimize. The PS4 has a higher hardware limit due to the beefier GPU. You can optimize less and still get better performance than xbone. If you optimize the PS4 as good as xbone it will remain even more ahead. It is just logic. If the cloud is used then you will need to be always online and have a good connection at all times. Do we really want an always online requirement now? I don't.
We did, however there was a rumor recently that said the Xbone version would be 1080p/60fps.
Hayden is right. Website is Updated to 1080p.
I couldn't care less about the resolution. This game is a never buy for me. Just played ground zeros and I really and truly hated it. First Metal Gear game I've ever played and the last. Not sure if that game is representative of the series, but if it is, I'm not sure how it has such a following.
So? Still buying it for the one.
lol works nicely for me, I'm on a nice ol' 720p 32" with my xbox one :-) and oh boy whatever pride these sony fanboys can hold onto nowadays, but hey whatever gets u guys off lmao
I can't remember honestly.
Considering Ground Zeroes was a much smaller game and only 720p on Xbox One, good work optimising the fox engine to get it to 900p
Ground Zeroes 720p and stunning 60 fps. Phantom Pain optimising excellent power of xbox one to 900p and 55-35 fps.
>excellent power >can only muster 900p >mfw
calling it now, xbox one version will have a more stable framerate than PS4. Witcher 3 was the same, 1080p on PS4 and 900p (dynamic) on Xbone, yet xbox consistently had higher framerates.
(Final output 1080p) So does that mean upscaled to 1080p or what? Also, hot damn dem 4K shots
I guess so. Still, the game looks good. Still buying it on XB1. MP with friends should be fun.
@Doge The Xbone always output 1080p and for non-1080p contents, they will be upscaled by the hardare.
Well yesterday there was a rumour saying that the xbone version was 1080 60fps... And some fans were actually saying that in 2 years thanks to the new SDK the Xbone was as powerful as another console. We will probably see people justifying that konami can't program. So this actually might surprise a lot of persons.
What did you expect
I thought 1080P was confirmed for the XB1 version. I'm confused. :I Regardless 900P or 1080P is an improvement since the demo ran at 720P.
no 1080p was a rumor from some german (?) site that took hold, think PES was confirmed as 1080p and people made leaps from that aswell
Didn't stop the Microsoft fanboys treating it as fact. I knew it seemed odd this game reaching 1080p on Xbox One.
No it wasn't confirmed, but wow you should have seen the gloating about how the X1 has closed the gap and yada yada. This almost turned into another embarrassing Project Cars moment for some.
That article from yesterday was from june and just a rumor.
It was nothing but a rumour that was taken seriously by many.
Confusion is why BS articles exist on N4G, without them N4G would be a wasteland.
Wait wasn't there an article on here yesterday saying it runs 1080p on Xbox?
yep i think so
That article from yesterday was actually from june and just a rumor. Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain 1080p 60Fps on Xbox One by Dreyer Smit on June 19, 2015
this is true 1080p on xbox one http://www.gamespot.com/art...
