Crackdown creator Dave Jones takes us through the technical aspects of Crackdown 3 and lets us get some hands on time blowing things up.
This really does look incredible. Can't wait to see the different ways peeps tackle missions and what not in the game, as well as just fux sh!t up. Also here's the YT link so ya don't have to watch it on ign player: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
I think I just could sit there for hours on end taking down buildings. That destruction is frickun great.
Wow, love when devs push new next gen experiences. "Make your own bridges by taking down skyscrapers." -Oh man if this works anywhere close to what they're showing in the finished online game with thousands of gamers online at once its going to be some epic "oh sh*t" moments.
That is exactly what I am going to do. Looking forward to it. Makes me want to play the first two.
This does look incredible. I really like the fact that the more intense the destruction, the system is smart enough to automatically upgrade to allow another server to help assist in the calculation of the physics. eventually, this could be endless as how big a world can be. Many thought MS didn't have a megaton at Gamescom but it is there underneath our feet all along. Truly the next evolution of gaming made possible by Azure!
Now that was simply incredible! So much detail and such a huge city. Once they add life and other aspects I can only see this world really coming to life like nothing before it. This tech hopefully is used in Phantom Dust and Gears 4 as well. I wonder what's going on with DX12. MS is letting it's tech speak for itself. Just amazing wow, I'm truly blown away!
microsoft made the mistake of trying to have a system that always required a connection even though after seeing games like this we can see the potential of it. consumers want choices and thankfully they are still going ahead with games like this that can utilize the cloud technology. this is amazing stuff and the frame rate remains steady even with everything going on. people love flashy graphics but most of those games are not physical. it's just scenery. this game has the potential to flatten the whole city and changing the entire landscape. just think of the potential this cloud technology could be applied to other types of games.
Next Gen is here. This looks amazing.
moldy: If MS could go ahead with their plan of always online, your single player campaign games would all be like this! Gears 4 with cover and hiding behind walls would be just absolutely amazing with this technology! Sadly a lot of people lacked the imagination to see the vision MS had and latched onto physical discs that put us decade behind in the digital game space. Heck, we might not even recover from it.
That is pretty cool.
I think Im missing something here. They show that in a mp game the destruction gets crazy enough that it ends up pulling from 10 other cloud servers. No way they would have more servers than players because of the obvious costs so what am I not understanding?
MS in 2013 promised 300k servers for cloud computation. MS might just up that now, who knows. A server has massive computational power and memory optimized for efficiency. Note also that when David Jones says 10 servers, it doesn't necessarily mean he is using the entirety of the server, but a slice of it. Source: http://www.escapistmagazine... That said, even if MS allows fewer servers per multiplayer game the experience will still be leaps above what we have now.
Thanks for the info donthate. Helpful bubble+
very cool stuff, Can not wait to play this with friends.
When I would play crackdown I always told my friends the game would be awesome with destruction and coop. Little did I know they would take it to this level. So happy with MS these days. Not one complaint.
Was thinking a moment ago, since the damage seems to be persistent and all. How long before we start seeing some cool Crackdown 3 bullet art? Can imagine some pretty cool stuff could be made. Guessing I'll end up seeing giant dick shapes shot out of building walls first somehow, haha.
First rule of project mayhem, is we don't talk about project mayhem.
All we have seen is destruction, how can you say a game is going to be great just based off of that.
SquidBuck this is like Die Hard and i'm John McClane (who wouldn't like to) blow shit up...Yippee-Ki-Yay MotherF___Ker. But it's more about computer compilation which those scubs on the otherside said will never work.
Very good demo.
Looks like a good laugh with mates but I personally can't wait til they show us the transforming vehicles, I loved the jeep 4×4 in the first game, some crazy stunts you could do, wonder what like they will be in 3?
Yeah I'm with you. I wonder how the vehicles will pan out and if they play a much more important role this time. I loved the cat and that awesome music!
I'm amazed. Cloud compute is pretty amazing
Where is the actual combat? What is objective in multiplayer? Just blow stuff up? Never tried the first two crackdowns.
Yeah Id like to see some player against player combat with some cool weapons, abilities, and vehicles but from a tech standpoint thats the easy part(console can handle that)....this destruction with the ability to scale servers depending on player action is definitely the most difficult part of the game design -which is exactly why they are focusing on that aspect for its first gameplay reveal.
Would be awesome if they used the cloud for human destruction as well by shooting villans apart. Also I Wonder what happens to the bad guys when you destroy a building while they're still inside. Crazy stuff going on here and just a thought.
Just go youtube crackdown it a classic can't say the same for crackdown2 though because the guy in the video didn't made it.
omg that is so coool, i want this game bad
Looks incredible. Can you enter buildings though?
Yes, he said that every building had to be built so that you could enter any room at any time. Part of why he was talking about using the pistol to carve a sniper hole was so that he could go up into a building and create a hole to look out of.
There have been a lot of great games this gen, and tons more to come...but this game takes the cake as first TRUE next gen game. Looks fantastic, fun, and uses a new tech to do it.
so offline in this game is last gen but online is pushing the boundaries awesome anyway
