Hitman studio just wants to 'get back to Hitman'

""Hitman is 15 years old," IO Interactive head Hannes Seifert said. "That's a long time. Tastes change. It's time to get back to Hitman." That was Seifert's explanation for why the next game in the series has forgone a subtitle. However, it may as well have served as the mission statement for how the studio plans to develop Hitman.

In our hands-off demo, it was apparent that IO Interactive wanted to accomplish two major goals. One of those was to construct intricate and interesting levels. The other, which piggybacks off the first and is more integral, is that the developer is really taking strides to give the player options."

We all do! Cannot wait to see more!

-Foxtrot1079d ago

Yet they did an episode based main game ¬¬

spacedelete1079d ago

Hitman: The Walking Dead episode 1.

scark921079d ago

Yeah, I am going to wait for the full release.

You can't wait on the live events. Those will be one time only things.

The content is free, might as well get it as the content comes as suppose to missing out on live events.

They want to track what players do most and add on certain missions based on what the community is seeking.

A retail release to my understanding is coming later next year or the year after, but I see no benefit to waiting and missing out on those live events.

Right from the article.

"One of the major planned features is an assassination mission that rotates out every two days or so. The catch is that players are only given a single try. If they botch it, the target gets away and they have a black mark on their permanent record"

bixxel1077d ago

But you'll miss out all the awesome monthly contests where a target will appear for 48-36 hours and you need to engage in a game of deduction to sort his identity and take him out creatively.

Had no idea, I may consider it, Thanks everyone!

An episode based game where each episode is free. So I'm okay with it. I too would rather have the full game day one, but since it's full on free, I can live with it. I will gladly get this game day one, and play each episode. Because if it's like traditional Hitman, it should be worth it.

kalkano1079d ago

Can they talk to the Final Fantasy head honchos, and get them to do the same?

_-EDMIX-_1079d ago

lol, well to be fair, Bravely Default is sorta the answer to that.

porkChop1079d ago

Yeah, pretty much. A home console Bravely Default game would be pretty sweet.

kalkano1079d ago

On a tiny budget, on a handheld.

_-EDMIX-_1079d ago (Edited 1079d ago )

@Kalkano- Little budget, big adventure. Its one of the best JRPGs I've played in almost 10 years, only Persona 3 and 4 go over it in terms of being traditional.

Don't let it being on a handheld fool you, if or likely when it hits consoles, you'll see what all the fuss is about.

I would like to see a epic, console only Bravely Default, but with the same art direction just better graphics.

Would be beast.

kalkano1078d ago

"Its one of the best JRPGs I've played in almost 10 years"

That doesn't say much to me, honestly. I've played it, and it was ok. Thing is, if it was released during the PS2 days, it would have been an obscure title. I think people have lowered their expectations, because the genre has just not been good for such a long time.

"I would like to see a epic, console only Bravely Default, but with the same art direction just better graphics."

Absolutely. It's tiny budget, and the fact that it's on a handheld, are it's biggest problems.

@PorkChop -

Very well could be in the works, I'd be down for one. Playing it right now on 3DS, just an amazing game! Pure turned based, job system ala FFV and no gimmicks, just old school concepts.
