Final Fantasy XV will ship with Japanese/English voice tracks only, more text-translations planned

In the last years, Square Enix has localized major games like Hitman, Tomb Raider and Deus Ex for multiple markets, including voice tracks in languages like French, German, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese. While English and Japanese voice casts have been shared for Final Fantasy XV already, Square Enix so far remained silent on whether more languages will be supported with dubbing voices or not.

During an interview with, Hajime Tabata, the game's Director confirmed that Final Fantasy XV will ship with Japanese or English voices only.

More dubbin voices are possible as a DLC later or when the game comes to other systems.

Tabata also mentioned that they plan to support more text-translations of the game, including more countries to reach new players.

Hopefully it will ship in the west with BOTH the English and Japanese voices, instead of English OR Japanese. The article isn't very clear if we get both, or if the western release will just get the English dub while Japan will just get it in Japanese.

They said it would be dual audio as free-dlc at the very least .

The game seems just too big for 1 Blue Ray: ( this big town is a small part of a part of the map : ) .

We should get ready to download the Japanesse voices i think.

I won't mind downloading the Japanese voices, I'm just glad they'll offer that option, instead of dub-only.

Original language included is automatic buy from me. Dub-only would have meant an absolute 'no buy'.

i actually got excited for a moment then realised I misread the OR bit =/

Thanks for pointing that out.

This game might be the first one that wont fit on single blu-ray disc.

I really want to play this with Japanese voices and English subtitles. Should be a great way to practice my Japanese and enjoy a game at the same time.

Should almost be an option for no VO's as both have some horrible characters with bad voice actors. Still looking forward to FFXV, at least it won't be Star Ocean 4 bad for VO although Jap was better will still play in English.

cross finger there will be scottish dialect dubs version!

Yes finally .... see Atlus , even Square with their high budgeted dubs is no longer stuck and stubborn over this .

Eamon1111d ago

To be honest, I think the main reason Square used to be stubborn was because of Wada as CEO. Instead of finishing the localisation of FF13 first, he went and shipped the japanese version out 3 months before the western version.

This meant he didn't care about multi-audio support at all. Since he left, I've noticed Square has improved on numerous issues. He was never a game developer at heart (he doesn't even have any game developing experience) and was purely a businessman. I guess he did guide Square out of the danger years of post-Sakaguchi and merging with Enix.
