[NSFW] Chuablesoft – Prospective Localization Plans

Chuablesoft; a Japanese developer focused on erotic themed visual novels, has expressed interest in the western market.

The president of Chuablesoft, IshidaP, recently announced his willingness to bring his company’s titles to a wider audience on Twitter, and asked westerners for their opinion on the censorship that occurs when erotic titles are localized for distribution services like Steam. He elaborated on this in two recent tweets on Twitter. One tweet refers to Steam, where he received an answer by fans on the availability of adult and non-adult content.

Hey man these are visual novels even though these games are juvenile by nature, they at least have context to the fanservice and you cant say nothing about that.

Story descriptions of some of these sound very dirty.

In my oppinnion JAST, Sekai Project, Manga Gamer and others should be very cautions on what visual novels they bring to steam. There are many Visual novels out there with great plot, interesting characters and little to no R-18 content and often even some fun gameplay.

These are great way to bring new fans to the genre while fixing the "hentai game" image some players might have. When the community grows it will be easier to distribute the more questionable content and games through other more fitting channels.

You do realize none of the games these three companies bring to STEAM are 18+ titles right? Steam won't let them, that's why the only games they can release, are there "All Ages" or 17+ ports (the non-pornographic games). If anything I'd argue that the VN community is already noticing a trend of bringing more "All Ages" title's over, it might not seems that way at first glance, to someone who isn't used to playing these games though.

You failed to see my point.

What I mean is that they should favor titles like Higurashi, Umineko, Fruit of Grisaia, Ever17, Clannad, Fate Stay Night and Baldr Sky over the stuff like Sakurai Spirit where it's painfully obvious that they have just removed the sex scenes and toned the ecchi scenes down with to get it accepted on steam.

I think it's important to show people that these are interactive novels not softcore porn games.

Thats cause steam games cant handle sensitive material.

I don't understand why sex is such an issue but violence and even making violent games that simulate wars between real countries is perfectly ok. (Example: BF4 fighting vs China)

Religions have influenced our social values a lot thought the years. It has made sex outside marriage seem like taboo of sort along with nudity. It doesn't matter if you are religious or not as it has influenced our views and ethics long before we were born and reached us through our parents, friends and media.

But since people are getting less religious in the more advanced countries they are starting to question some of these values and become more open for stuff like gay marriage and casual sex etc.

Actually, I did understand. I was just being rhetorical, but yes, I agree.
