Gamescom 2015: How Was Microsoft’s Conference?

Andrew Gonzalez from Xbox Enthusiast Writes: "Microsoft had a strong E3 filled with announcements that ranged from Backwards Compatibility, Rare Replay, Sea of Thieves, ReCore, and it featured some cool demos. The company had a lot to live up to going in to Gamescom and I think that Microsoft held their ground. While the show wasn't perfect by a long shot, there were more positive aspects than negatives and in the end, that's a great thing. Seeing gameplay for titles that are launching next year successfully hyped up the audience and the show definitely left a good impression with me. Microsoft says that this year is "the greatest games lineup in Xbox history", but I actually think that next year is looking a lot stronger."

I'll be honest, I think I was spoiled by their E3 show. Quantum Break looked truly impressive, and the Halo Wars 2 announcement is a welcome surprise, but I think I was a little bit underwhelmed.

I mean, I had to find out via Twitter that Forza 6 would have Monza, Hockenheimring, and Circuit of the Americas. Why wasn't that announced on stage??

Forza Race Leagues: 24-player multiplayer on dedicated servers.
Halo 5: Guardians console bundle + 2 new limited edition controllers
Xbox Chatpad
Xbox 360 backwards compatibility along with new Windows 10 UI coming in November
All future Xbox 360 Games with Gold will be backwards compatible
Halo Wars 2
Homefront The Revolution multiplayer beta this Winter
New Quantum Break gameplay footage
First time gameplay footage of Scalebound
DVR for Over-the-Air TV coming in 2016 with no subscription (Windows Media Center replacement)

It was the total opposite for me, so many new stuff for current, and new owners to look forward to.

it was good overall. not too much in surprises (other than halo wars 2 and dvr functionality) but to the point. quantum break looks really good now and forza 6 always looked awesome, crackdown 3 is probably a must own and i like the new direction they are taking with windows.

it's amazing how they are doing exactly what the main critics called them out for yet how many of these forum critics have changed their opinion? they don't focus on kinect anymore, they are investing in their own ip's, they are totally focused on making the xbox one a gaming system, ect.

i will be honest, scalebound did not look very good to me.

Loved the entire show, however there were periods of slow down. But I have to say X1 has some fantastic games coming up for the next year and a half.
