Of course it was a success. Announcing 2 more exclusives to be released next year including a Halo Wars sequel which was on my personal wish list really is the icing on a great cake.
showing gameplay of 3 anticipated games for 2016 and all looked amazing and cloud computation is indeed a real thing.
BC games for all X360 gold game is really great news and adds value to subscribers.
I think this is as good as their E3 showing this year. Really awesome shows.
I felt Gamescome was better than their E3 showing, because it felt like a true new experience for XBO with Crackdown, Scalebound, Tomb Raider (aka Naughty Dog's sister company....Naughty B!*@#), and QUANTUM BREAK (blown away) really showing off freshness and originality, which is something Xbox always needed IMO to combat PlayStation.
The core Xbox gamers love Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable.
I've never loved those franchises like that except Gears and Forza. But Gears was wearing out on me, and 1 Forza is enough for me for the entire gen, and that's usually the 2nd / 3rd title in the main series on that console (example Forza 3 last-gen was all I needed).
Crackdown looks good again and isn't on the 2 year cycle so it feels fresh. Scalebound (aka DMC Monster Hunter Edition) looks a bit rough on combat for now, but this is Platinum so I'm not worried especailly since it has more than a year to go and graphically it's already impressive with 3/4 player co-op. QUANTUM BREAK is the best looking XBO game IMO smashing everything else without equal, and easily in my top 3 games of 2016 with Uncharted 4 and Horizon.
These games are what Xbox needed all along, regardless of what fanboys disagreed and downvoted us for. This is how you get people to buy your console, New original ideas and incredible New IP's like QUANTUM BREAK.
The only downside was they overhyped the amount of games they had, but it was still a really good showing for them.
How was Scalebound, Crackdown 3, Quantum Break, DVR functionality for over the air TV, chat pad, Killer Instinct Season 3, Cobalt, and Halo Wars 2 E3 all over again?
It wasn't E3 all over again. I thought the E3 was just a bit better only because of the B/C announcement and the new IP games Recore & Sea of Thieves that were announced. I was expecting a few more new IP's announced at Gamescom, but we didn't get them. Most of the Indies shown will be on PC and eventually on PS4 in the future. No new exclusive titles. The show was still impressive with gameplay demos of Scalebound and Quantum Break.
MS did a fantastic job and needed all of 90 min to show all of the awesome stuff coming this year and next. Tomb Raider was by far my favorite part. That game is going to be so sick, and Laura is a ruthless badass.
Any new announcement by any company about games should be a success to all gamers. I love when Sony announces new games, I love when Nintendo announces, abd I'm happy with what Microsoft has announced.
So there was no Crack Down 3, Tomb Raider, Killer Instinct talk, several ID games, Forza 6, etc? I'm thinking you might have tuned in to the wrong conference.
No I saw them, I also saw TR and HALO at E3.. It just wasn't that exciting to me. I know it's hard to cope with other people having an opinion. I didn't think it was bad.
I know....lots of stuff we already knew about, its like...if someone didn't care for those games last time around, whats new?
Scalebound and Halo Wars 2 reveal were the only things shown that I cared about.
Its subjective, can't someone just say "WOW bro, Metroid for 3DS, Animal Crossing Party game for Wii U, Mario Tennis, I mean.....I'm thinking you might have tuned in to the wrong conference"
Some will state it was MIND BLOWING, others will say it was....meh.
It just depends on what one feels is really mind blowing, its too subjective.
I only cared for 2 games, mind you, I wanted to see Sea Of Thieves or ReCore, but I'm ok with only Scalebound and Halo Wars 2, especially since its coming to PC.
Why do you think it's hard to cope with other people having opinions? Because I presented facts that challenged your opinion? I could carelees if you did or did not like the program, but your presentation of "nothing" was inaccurate. Now what is hard for people to cope with is that you don't have to use definitives to express likes and dislikes, as well as the ability of multiple things to coexist.
Did they win Gamescon? Ohhhhh wait, that title is not clickbait worthy at this time. It's a great time to be a gamer, and even more so if you can appreciate all of gaming, regardless of what name is etched on a product.
It was fantastic! Usually Gamescom is a replay of E3. Microsoft treated all gaming fans to a completely new experience. I might have liked it better than their E3, and I thought their E3 was pretty flawless. I love the focus on exclusives and first party content. It was nice to see them not be afraid to show the TV DVR function, as they've not talked anything but games the past 3 E3's. I think Sony not doing a show let them have more leeway. We learned that 2016 will have Recore Crackdown Killer Instinct Season 3 Sea Of Thieves Quantum Break Scalebound Forza Horizon 3 Halo Wars 2 Gears Of War 4
We get Windows 10 in November on Xbox One, September for preview members. All future Games With Gold Games on 360 will be backwards compatible, so double games for Xbox One owners!
It was a fantastic event. Love the way they split their shows up this year. Bravo Microsoft, bravo!
Microsoft didn't have to worry about Sony's potential show, or backlash from gamers/media by showing something like the TV DVR. The past 3 E3's have been nothing but games (Which is great) but I like the other aspects of my Xbox One. Microsoft has been fearful to talk about them since the backlash of the reveal in 2013. Recore and Sea Of Thieves were both mentioned as exclusives for 2016, which we learned they will have a fantastic 2016 lineup as my post implied to begin with.
@Big- "Microsoft didn't have to worry about Sony's potential show"
I...I don't think Sony being there would make them "worry" lol, they would still be showing content to sell Windows 10 and XONE, what does what Sony show having to do with that?
They are not scared of Sony, Sony is not scared of them lol, I"m sorry but you take this fanboy war thing a bit too far thinking that any of those companies really care about who is showing up or not.
They are their to sell XONE's and Windows 10 OS's, I don't think Sony being there would some how make them change that or show less, more etc.
"or backlash from gamers/media by showing something like the TV DVR"
??? What does that have to even do with Sony?
The game's media will do that to any company REGARDLESS of who is also there.
As if because Sony is there, they will NOW talk about DVR being a bad thing, but Sony is not there so its now not going to be bashed on?
Well, it isn't a failure. I don't get this type of question, though..... They showed games. Plenty of them. This is, in addition to (the X1 I'm finally buying), the Halo 5 LE console. Not a lot of new announcements? No big deal.
I'd say - be happy that games are coming and the industry lives on. For that, the Xbox "accomplished" (the article claims this was stolen by other things) what it set out to do.
This mad E3 look bad and I thought E3 was awesome but gamescom made my head blow up. A lot of games I had no interest in has got me sold now. Last gen the only xbox exclusives I had was the fable series and halo series. This gen I already have as much as last gen and after gamescom it's about to triple.
I think Microsoft put some hype and gameplay vids on reserve for gamescom, it is a good marketing ploy to generate interest. It's greater when the games actually shown look amazing. The Xbox brand tends to be the last I pick up and usually toward the end of the generation, while the games have been out and the library is robust, but I may have to get one soon...perhaps, for scalebound and a few other titles. Scalebound isn't a timed exclusive, is it?
...Um...ok. We've sorta heard that before. Until MS states they own the IP, could end up anywhere to be honest, would not be the first time MS published a title they didn't own the rights to.
A wiki page? lol I heard nothing regarding MS actually owning Scalebound's IP. Mind you, could be true, merely haven't seen anything stating that it is yet.
Quantum Break was the highlight for me. Best game this gen so far.
Scalebound have to see more not sure what the story is about, the game kind of reminded me of Final fantasy and Zelda.
Crackdown not sure if its my kind of game need to see more.
MS then lost their way for after that i got bored there was no need for that directx12 video some of the stuff at the conference felt like filler.
It was only saved by the announcement of Halo Wars 2 and, even better, its being made by Creative assembly, so hyped the strategy game could end up being awesome.
It didn't do anything to make me go out and want to get another Xbox One. And the goal of this Gamescom for MS was to entice Europeans to buy an Xbox One. In my opinion they didn't do that. But of course like always Phil Spencer hyped it up like it was going to be one of the GOAT conferences. I was looking forward to getting the Halo 5 bundle, but at 500 dollars, it's far too overpriced. I still need to see more from Quantic Break though, because if it's a great game it could get me to buy an Xbox.
Good - Quantum Break: But STILL the gameplay looks dated :( - Tomb Raider - Halo War 2 Announce.
Bad - Too much FIFA - The tag "Exclusive for Holiday 2015" on TR. I'll get it on PS4 next year. - Lack of contents. They could have showed these trailers at E3.
Ugly - Scalebound: not really an hack n slash. Ugly music. Terrible humor. I still have high hopes for this game.
Nope. Gameplay wise is a simple TPS. We'll see at release. Alan Wake didn't shine for gameplay too..and Remedy isn't the same of 10 years ago (Max Payne masterpiece)
Did they talk about Gears Of War UE 60 FPS debacle? I wanna know if they are making both singleplayer and multiplayer at 60 FPS or not. Is it still 60 FPS for multiplayer?
Was good enough content, even I want more true Xbox One exclusives, that can't be found on X360 or PC.
Yes, it was.
Good exclusives games, good multiplatform games, good news (nº of games with X1 BC, X1/Win10 integration) and nice surprise (Halo Wars 2).
Would be cool if it had more surprises, but all in all, it was a very good Gamescom briefing by Microsoft.
No new Battletoads game was announced so I have to say it was a complete failure.
Well...maybe not a failure but it was good.
It's good to see MS focus on a lot of other types of games for the Xbox One.
it was o.k.
It was good.
