Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds Overdrive is a beat-‘em-up spin-off of the fighting game Phantom Breaker developed by 5pb. This side scrolling title combines its 8-bit retro style reminiscent of old-school brawlers with a combat system indicative of the game’s roots to deliver a fast-paced action adventure through a parallel dimension.
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive is a cooperative action game for up to four players. Dash around the screen, defeat enemies, raise your levels, assign skills and enjoy head-to-head fights.
5pb. has announced that Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive is out now on the Nintendo Switch digitally via the Nintendo eShop for $9.99 / €7.99 / 1,000 Yen.
They're still releasing this game? I wish Scott pilgrim the game would get the every system in existence treatment in the next 10 years. Also is it as badly optimized as it was on Vita? I couldn't believe a side scrolling beat em up has slow down, had issues and was a whole gig when bigger side scroller like Rayman origins was smaller lol. Game is fun though despite what I'm saying. Just wouldn't buy again with the horrible version I have already lol
"Phantom Breaker isn’t exactly the most famous fighting game series in existence, but the series has gotten a small, dedicated following. Now, after many revisions to the original game, the series has gotten a beat-em-up spin-off. Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive attempts to take the setting and fighting game techniques of the mainline Phantom Breaker series and use them to spice up the somewhat clichéd pixel art inspired beat-em-up genre. While there was clearly a lot of effort put into giving the fighting engine more depth than the usual brawler, a lack of variety in the tactics needed against computer controlled enemies and a frankly unethical use of DLC stops Battle Grounds Overdrive from reaching its potential. -- PlayStation Enthusiast
