Game director Brian Horton on the scale of the game and also talks about a new mechanic called "a nested approach" to puzzles.
Not gonna lie here, I can't wait as I played the last one on the Xbox One (Definitive Edition) and REALLY enjoyed it. Gonna be a busy holiday season for sure.
Same here. Enjoyed the reboot.nice to see CD putting so much effort into this. Day one for sure..I hope MS releases a tasty TR bundle for the holidays.
@GearsdoodooBruh: Xbox One is rapidly catching up and exceeding all expectations in terms of improvement, but really those increases means almost nothing. The games would have been great regardless of the increase in performance. To really get noticeable improvement, you really need a magnitude (that is 10x for those wondering) to make a noticeable difference. Even then, there are diminishing returns.
Does that mean that the world is linear? TR reboot was open with fast travel if I'm not mistaken.
There is no reason why they cannot make a seamless open world game with no load screens. Background loading! The original TR was made for last generation hardware.
They said it will be three times bigger from the original reboot. That doesn't sound like a linear game to me. "Besides Lara’s story which is really exciting, we’re really thrilled to talk about the new scale that we have for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Our exploration spaces are 3 times larger than they were in the last game and our tombs are much bigger."
Xboxone definitive edition 900 p 20-30 fps is that definitive edition ?:)
There are a few instances where it cuts from one frame to another with a black screen: https://www.youtube.com/wat... http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Good call, Nicholas Cage. Looks like "no loading screens" is a stretch. ;)
Nicholas Cage? lol
The black screen is like 1 ms that cuts from one frame to the next. It's not even a loading screen.
That black screen is a cinematic cut from one angle to another and not a loading screen. Nobody in their right mind puts up a half second loading screen! That is idiotic to even suggest.
You mean the 1-2 second "transition" from a cinematic to gameplay? I hardly call that a loading screen. The loading is more than likely done during cut-scenes and other practical uses a lot of games are doing nowadays.
"A loading screen is a picture shown by a computer program, often a video game, while the program is loading or initializing."
http://static.giantbomb.com... http://guide4games.net/wp-c... Didn't seem to see any picture when viewing your links. I did see two quick transitions from cut scene to gameplay though. I guess that very brief moment of a black screen could be considered a loading screen....right?
Right. Are you saying the only way to identify a loading screen, be it long or almost-instant is through the word loading on a black screen?
Well maybe in the almost 4 and a half months left of optimizing from the time that video was loaded to youtube and the game coming out...that will be gone...either way the game looks fantastic....can't wait to play it...so I can see the defense force tears. You're trying too hard to downplay this game for no reason...just give up...it'll make you happier.
Defense force tears? I'm not downplaying this game, It says the game won't have any 'loading' screens, I recalled otherwise. It's that simple, there's nothing more to it. On the contrary, I'm looking forward to this game.
Wow cant wait this game sounds so ambitious.
And the PC version will have relatively n load screens even on player death thanks to pci-e ssds! :-). My rig is ready for 2016! Bring it!
Stoked! Running mine with sli 770s. WooT!
No Loading Screens & x3 Bigger is Great! Cannot wait to pick up my X1 with this game @Launch!
Three times larger in a spatial sense or three times longer or both? Good to see them doing the dynamic background loading like Naughty Dog has been doing for years. It really adds to the immersion.
So basically either loading during cutscenes or one really long loading time to start, really nothing new but next year will be great when it comes out on PS4 and they can improve on it from the initial release.
Don't get your hopes up. It will probably be a staight port of the xbox1 version. I expect they will add all of the dlc for the game of the year edition when it releases on ps4 and again on xbox1. Any small increase for the ps4 hardware will be eaten up in the porting process.
I'm excited to play this game, but only when I find it in a bargain bin. There's too many great games releasing around that time.
That's the best place to get games and one of the reasons I like MS loading up their holiday's instead of spreading them throughout the year. When the next year rolls around you can pick up the games you missed on the cheap!
This is interesting news, and adds to my excitement for the game. Like my PS4 is ready for Tales of Zestiria, my Xbox One is ready for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Add Halo 5 and Forza 6 to the mix, this is going to be one busy holiday!
Should be one of the best games this year..can't wait!
I am actually really sad this isn't on ps4 till alot later. I absolutely loved the tomb raider and it as the first game I finished on my ps4 when I bought. Lucky for all the Xbox one owners.
Get an X1 too...they are both fantastic systems, but I actually prefer my X1....my PS4 basically only plays exclusives at this point.
why? The PS4 plays multi-plats better as well.
This game seems awesome at every level...I can't wait to play it. Most importantly the gameplay sounds like it will be the best yet. More stealth and scavanging, and more TOMBS and puzzles. I'm really looking forward to UC4 too, but I think the gameplay aspect is why I think I'll actually prefer TR this time around. UC4 seems like it's too linear so far, with just basic cover shooter gameplay. I'm sure the game will be amazing of course, but TR looks like it will get the nod in the gameplay department for me.
Everything tomb raider has shown looks like a lesser version of Uncharted. Why even bring up Uncharted on this article? Think we have a troll here.
In other news: Tomb Raider On PS4 Won't Have Any Loading Screens, 3 Times Bigger Than The Original (Pretty sure it will be the same on all platforms so why single certain ones out.)
At least, the game should come with all the DLC, to make up for the wait on PS4.
The first game in the reboot was my GOTY in 2013, already have this pre-ordered. Going to be tough on my wallet with all these great games coming every single month. Rare Replay Gears Ultimate Forza Motorsport 6 Halo 5 Rise Of The Tomb Raider Battlefront Rainbow Six Siege Fallout 4 Gonna be a great year!
Can't wait to get this Holiday 2016 on my PS4. Looks to be a great game!
