Army_of_Darkness869d ago

he's probably Fergal Gara lol!

SaveFerris870d ago

This is a bit sudden and a little shocking. I wonder why he is resigning?

ArchangelMike870d ago (Edited 870d ago )

Might have been he was taken on a 4 year contractual basis? Or maybe he's been head hunted by another company and offered a better package. Execs seem to move around quite frequently these days - especially playstation and Microsoft execs.

SaveFerris870d ago

He seemed to be doing a great job and I'm sure Sony wouldn't want him to leave. Could he be heading to Microsoft?

TwoForce870d ago

I agree. Every executive move a around a lot lately.

Everyone have move on with their life, I think.

That's a bit over dramatic, no?

Dude, people move around in this industry, just like in any other high profile roles. Why does it have to be a bad thing, or that he has 'jumped in' with MS? Even if he has, so what? ...it's a JOB, not the End of the World.

I've come to realize that some people might just be too emotionally invested in these Companies.

SaveFerris870d ago

I was just curious. Four years in that position doesn't seem all that long to me but there could be any number of reasons for him to move on.

FoxyGotGame870d ago

Okay...sorry if I came off a little rude...I just woke up, and your comment was the first I saw. Thanks for not being a Total A## about it )

SaveFerris870d ago

@thatPSguy

No problems. Upon reading my comment again perhaps I did appear 'too emotionally invested'.

Tenure for CEO positions in large corps averages about 8 years, but is shorter in the tech world.

It says he is off to pursue a new professional venture. If he were joining MS or any other competitor he would most likely be on 6 months gardening leave - however in this case he is staying on to oversee the handover, so I think it's unlikely he'll join MS.

Jayszen870d ago (Edited 870d ago )

hmmm...sounds ominous - Microsoft bound perhaps?

Well good luck to him where ever he goes. Did well for Sony.
