Does this game sound like XCOM? Or at least the same style? Never played or heard of it before but if it plays similar to XCOM I will love it

It plays like a top down fallout game. For the most part anyway. Wasteland was the predecessor to the Fallout games. Similar esthetic and tone, very similar gameplay.

I'm stoked for this game. Have been waiting for it to hit consoles since they announced they were working on it.

Well, in XCOM you play with a JRPG feel... You have your base and you have combat missions.
In Fallout/Wasteland, combat is integrated in the open world. You can fight nearly everywhere. Don't like that guy on the bar? Hit him. Good luck with most of the town getting on you though.

Plus you have deep choices and explorations.

The combat itself, though, is reasonably similar. Tactical and turn-based. One major difference is that XCOM uses the terrain a lot for the combats and Fallout is more based on the distance to the target.

So, yes, the combat is quite alike. The rest isn't. One is a strategy game behind the combat (XCOM), the other is a full Role Playing (video)Game.

Both are excellent IMO.

Thanks for the info... I've been under a rock for years and never touched a fallout game. But I get where u going at

Just to notice, I am referring to Fallout 1 and 2 and Wasteland 1 and 2 on the reply.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are action-RPG games, first or third person, very very different than the previous.

Check it out when you have the time. Both are very very good.
