MCV: if anyone knows what's in store for the future of PS3, it's the global boss of PlayStation. Tim Ingham fires our second set of questions at Kaz Hirai…
to be that other machine that a family owns besides a Wii. The foresight to include Blu-ray was huge and a standard HDD was even better. Tech heads like myself have already up'd their HDD so installs don't worry me at all. If Home is at least good, I think Sony could emerge as the console of choice for the hardcore, family (again after the Wii), and MS will give us Xbox 720 and hope a 3rd times a charm.
I like not having to buy a console every few years and I think 10 year lifespans are perfect for home consoles. They allow the consoles hardware to be pushed fully and allow prices, over time, to become cheaper for the broader public.
I like both Sony and Microsoft's strategy in trying to be successful in this business. Sony would rather invest their funds into pushing and developing new cutting edge IP's that they fully own. MS is doing a small portion of that but they are more along the lines of buying interest into smart previously established franchises to try and level the playing field. Sony feels a great offense is the best defense. MS feels the best offense is a great defense.
i like both Microsoft's and Sony's desire to deliver quality content and cater to gamers, but i'm not sure i like Microsoft's strategy of buying third-party exclusives and exclusive content. sure, it helps their bottom line, but it fractures the market for gamers. i'd rather they take an approach similar to Sony's: investing more in in-house development. all in all i'm excited about both platforms; Gears of War 2, inFamous, God of War 3, Fable 2, Killzone 2, Alan Wake, LBP, White Knight Chronicles, Infinite Undiscovery, Heavy Rain, Team Ico's next project, rumored Dark Cloud 3 are all exclusives i can't wait to try. i can understand one's preference for a specific console, but the philosophy of FANBOYS still eludes me.
Those are some really great games! I'm also looking forward to all of them. Even more I look forward to the PS3 exclusive NCSoft game that is getting revealed on August 3. If it's a good MMO I can't wait to play it with my friends!
Its SONY Playstation boss talking. retard Hirai part 2
"More specifically – in example in the US – we have the video delivery service, plus Life With PlayStation" Does this mean LWP is US only?
Kaz is King!!!;) +Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, SoCom, God Of War 3, Killzone 2, MaG, Motorstorm:Pacific Rift, Ratchet&Clank:QFB, Uncharted 2, GT5 + HOME to Come... ;-P HA HA!!! Micro$lags!!! You CAN'T STEAL THEM!!! ;-D
so far so good for sony, but 1 thin thou hope MICROCOPY dosnt copy em like they usually do
Yeah i know what you mean. But when they copy things it's never as good as SONY does;) If(er i hope)LBP, Resistance 2, Motorstorm:Pacific Rift, Ratchet&Clank:QFB + HOME + More good XMB stuff etc etc come out this year it should be GAME OVER for Micro$luts!!! ;-D
that being said, they have come a long way as well(a la xbox LIVE). I also find Kaz Hirai's personality quite calm and humble at this point, which is wierd since he usually is known for his pride. Again, as I said earlier, Microsoft still has much to learn as far as being both a hardware manufactuer and a game company. The reason for this is because they have yet to learn how to reserve certain resources for those critical points in the system's lifecycle. There is a reason why the Playstation brand is good at 10 year lifecycles. As Lifendz pointted out, maybe next gen things could work out more in MS favor. because as it stands, Kaz is reminding all of us why they are still the big brother this generation.
You're right, I also notice that Sony has toned down the chest thumping this gen, especially since the PS3's dismal launch. But they have come a long way. I also notice that Sony has not taken to attacking it's competition verbally. Unlike Microsoft's childish antics of continously citing, "Xbox 360 WILL sell more units worldwide than PS3". It just gets old and the overall numbers tell a different story.
