I Will Never Play Journey Again

Richard Drummond of Gaming Tech United writes:

"Going into Journey I had no preconceived notions. Many had told me it was a great title, but with a game that had gotten so much critical praise, I wanted to form my own opinion and experience it in my own way. I never owned a PS3, so I never got a chance to jump into this title, but when it hit the PS4, I was beyond excited."

I hope people do more than read the title of the article or they might miss what the author is saying.

A game that sticks in your mind for a long time and impact you in the least expected way is what I call a good game. Journey is one time experience that, despite you could go and play it again, it won't feel the same the 2nd time and so on. Telltale games work the same way where if you replay the game and make different decisions, you ruin the consequences of your previous playthought and choices, thus not feeling the same impact as before.

Very true. Journey just makes you feel such a strong emotion the first time you complete it, that I don't want to risk playing it again and not feeling that high level of emotion.

That's pretty damn impressive for a video game.

That goes for any material that you come across with. When you don't expect something the feeling you get when you end up loving it is amazing. The reason Journey made such a great impact was simply because you didn't know anything about it. You watched the beauty play out right before your eyes which made the impact greater. I played the game on the ps4 and even though I didn't get the same feeling I did when first playing it I still admire it for what it is. It's truly a masterpiece that shows how far gaming has come. It's a great example on how gaming is art.

Title and description are intentionally designed to A. Attract defensive fans and B. Attract aggressive trolls.

Don't be surprised when both arrive.

And yet all the comments here as of right now are positive. I think you're looking into it too much. You need some sort of a hook to draw in readers and the headline helps with that.

In my opinion it was a good read. :)

Read more than the title?

You're on N4G, remember? Everyone reads the article before commenting.

now before all you jump to silly conclusions this is straight from the article, btw great read.

"It was such a pure and genuine experience that felt less like I was playing a video game and more like I was experiencing this world and all it had to offer. Simply put, I was lost in the world for two hours and it felt like 10 minutes. That my friends is the sign of a great title.'

Wow. Thank you for the kind words! :)

This game is amazing, really special.

KindaGrump1146d ago

It really is a great blend of visuals and story telling that not many AAA can even capture.

Played it multiple times back when I bought it when it came out for PS3, every time more engaging than the last.

KindaGrump1146d ago

Played it for the first time on PS4 as well. Man am I glad they brought it over. Plus that little discount for having PS+ was pretty rad too!
