(PSLS): What we knew months ago has now officially been confirmed: Rise of the Tomb Raider will come to the PlayStation 4 and PC, though at a later date compared to the Xbox versions.
Think the point of the timed exclusives is to sway the people who know almost nothing about video games to purchase the system like a little kid or a parent who just see the advertisements. If they sell a bundle for cheap then they will generate sales. Remember when the 360 was on sale for a year and the PS3 just came out I asked my parents for one of them for Christmas, they went with the cheaper system which was the 360. Looking forward to the game and Im just waiting for it to come to PC so I can run it at 60 fps.
I think that "people" are really salty that they have to wait a year for a game that is a GOTY contender.
It's contending for it's own place in the crowd alone, with the amount of exclusive promotion that Microsoft has been shouting all year, but packing into a 3 month window. But in that same window with Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid 5, and Star Wars Battlefront, Tomb Raider is not realistically contending for goty.
In my opinion, I don't think a lot of people mind waiting for the PS4 version. If you think about it, this may be the way to go. It will have all the latest fixes and patches. Possibly even DLC. Not to mention a possible slight bump in performance.

And Patches are also platform specific, this isn't to say that either platform may or may not need or get patches down the road.
people do mind. sales data proves this. most game sales are front loaded, this is why so many ps4 owners are upset that microsoft got the exclusive deal for a year.
@moldybread Which sales data do you mean? The clearly disappointing sales of Tomb Raider on XBoxes compared to the PS versions?!
@kraenk12 "Which sales data do you mean? The clearly disappointing sales of Tomb Raider on XBoxes compared to the PS versions?!" that makes a lot of sense to what i said. did the last tomb raider come out a year later on the playstation? here's a thought, look at sales for oblivion and bioshock and mass effect on the ps3 and compare them to how well it sold on the xbox 360. that is what you should be using as a guide since all of those games came out later on the ps3. when a game comes out a year later it will not have the same impact as it would if it had a simultaneous release. unless of course you talk about japanese titles that have a history of not selling very well on the xbox.
What you on about? We were able to get bloodborne the day it was released.
I was looking for it, I was looking for this comment damn good look my dude, you on the fuzz right now.
He is absolutely correct, the disagrees tell it all!
Timed exclusives are just kinda dumb in the grand scheme of things
A year is a long time to wait for 1 game.
I only started playing the Tomb Raider DE a few weeks ago when I got it on sale- A year and a half after release basically. So I'm obviously in no rush to play ROTR, I can wait a year
I think they should also release this on PS3 since they already went through the effort of making a 360 version
Don't care. Square Enix made us feel ok with amount of exclusive they announced for ps4. Star ocean, nier 2, dragon quest heroes 1 & 2, dragon quest 11 (unreal engine version). All these wonderful games can't be enjoyed by xbone so let them at least have bragging rights for tomb for a year.
FINAL FANTASY 7
So Square enix is launching TR first on XB1 and FFVII remake first on PS4, then in a year from their launches they'll release elsewhere. I do see the funny dilemma with timed games.
It only limits the sales. By the time this hits ps4/pc it's going to be marked down on Xbox one and a goty edition will be available. It only alienates the fan base by making it for one platform, timed or exclusive. It feeds the flames.
I love how people disagree with the fact that the game won't sell very well once the exclusive time is up. C'mon man, why would anyone wanna buy a year old game? That's like me wanting to buy Destiny when I could get The Witcher 3 instead, or even just wait to get MGSV. Y'all crazy man lolol. I can tell you one thing, I won't be one of those people buying Tomb Raider a year after its release.
Look how long PC players held off for their version of GTA5. Sales for fallout 3 spiked when fallout 4 was announced and look how old that game is. Almost seven years old. You are fooling yourself if you think no one is going to wait for it.
I'll wait and it's funny you mentioned Destiny because I waited and I'm thinking it was worth it with Taken King: Legendary Edition which includes the game and everything released so far.
Don't care, will get it when it hits PS4.
If a game is good it still will be a year later .
