The Avatar universe has come to a sudden wind down after the conclusion of The Legend of Korra series. Co-Creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino had spoke about future comic books in the works, but will we ever see a good Avatar game?
If they do I hope we can get 1000 GS or platinum the game within 5 minutes lol /s
No, Platinum should, just give them a full budget to do so.
should make Aang not Korra
Rocksteady should do what they want.
I started watching the first season a couple of days back... Loving it so far - Korra's a treat and it's great seeing all of that incredible bending animation in widescreen. That said, I think it would be very difficult to do a game based on either of the Avatars... Aang and Korra are just too dang powerful to represent in games (Superman has a similar problem), and their stories have already been told. Ideally a developer (not Rocksteady) would collaborate with the show's writers on creating a new Avatar (it's an Earth Bender's turn, right?) for a different time period... that way they can game-ify the story for an Avatar that starts out slow, with limited bending abilities that unlock/level-up over time. Insomniac could do it - Sunset Overdrive has the best 3rd-person traversal I've seen.. it's legitimately funny, the combat is solid and the weapons are insane. If it worked out, they could do Book 2, 3 and 4, by which point videgames should be closer to being able to represent fully-fledged Avatar-state type powers without killing the frame-rate... the new Crackdown looks like it might solve the destruction problem.
Making such characters in an open world setting would be difficult to impossible. More so because the Avatar world itself is so diverse. Make the Avatar state either its own game segment or the final stage.
Yeah, I didn't mean to imply an open-world - although 'zones' might work for Bah-Sing Say or Republic City - as the story would need to be rather linear for a game to have any chance at capturing the Avatar spirit... with the amount of travel they do, a traditional open-world setting just wouldn't work.
A Suicide Squad game could probably be cool
