Who is Skull Face? A theory about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

"Skull Face doesn’t exist, he is simply the specular image of what John, Big Boss, Venom Snake, Punished Snake or Saladin is becoming. It’s a sort of double personality that fights to contradict Major Zero’s ideal, an ideal of extreme order contradicted itself by the French of the villain in the phrase 'sans lingua franca'."

The story is too old to be commented.

Maybe you should watch the trailer again. You can see when Big Boss turns his head when Skull Face stands up as if he was in a crouched position...plus Chico, Paz, the XOF troops, and the Marines have seen Skull Face. One of the marines tells his buddy he saw a man with a short lever-action rifle strapped to his leg with one of them cowboy hats on. The soldiers in that scene all seemed busy looking at Metal Gear ZEKE or ST-84 to notice Skullz.

It's like this guy didn't play ground zero, because what logic is it for snake to be skull face, torture chico, and then go in and rescue him. No, this villain is not some some 2nd personality, fight club scenerio. I'm pretty sure he's very real.

Like fallen said, it doesn't make sense and if that were the case it would be amonget the worst form of media to use this route as a scapegoat

Yeah, I don't know. I feel like this would make some plot holes that would be very difficult to explain.

My guess is Skull Face is Decoy Octopus...

Visually it fits quite well. He was one of the bosses for MGS but he fell so fast to the FOXDIE virus and so you didn't really learned anything about him. Actually we know so little about him that it would make really good sence to tell his story in this.. pre-secuel.. if so to speak.

Think about it. Skull Face is rambling about that he lost his identity and was forced upon to learn a new language. Decoy Octopus was a master of impersination and I could imagine one without identity could do so very well.

What speaks against the theory though is that Decoy Octopus had a life as an actor in Holywood - that seems a tad unlikely for the antagonist we know as Skull Face..

Skull Face is from Hungary. Octopus is from Mexico.

@Gardenia
Big Boss and Campbell start FOXHOUND in Portable Ops.

@NitroWolf2
Solid Snake was 33 during the Shadow Moses Incident. He and Liquid were born in 1972..and Shadow Moses takes place in 2005 soo..do the math.

Gardenia884d ago

Since Big Boss is starting FOX Hound I would say it's Psycho Mantis. But that's not possible because then he would be too old in the Shadow Moses incident

The idea that Skull Face doesn't exist is one of the dumbest ideas ever. He's the bastard that caused the events of Ground Zeroes to happen in the first place, which in turn caused the events of Phantom Pain to occur. To say its Big Boss's imagination or even himself commiting all these horrendous actions with no justified cause would be absurd. Especially with the implication that Big Boss would engineer the destruction of his own MSF group just to get revenge on.......see that theory doesn't make enough sense to finish that statement.

Case in point, Skull Face is real. He's just in another line of fantastical villains.

Does anyone remember the nes metal gear. When snake fights big boss in the end, you have to use your cig to lite him on fire. Skull face looks totally burnt up just like that. And what if the snake you play as in V is actually Solidus Snake, not big boss.

Nitrowolf2884d ago (Edited 884d ago )

because solidus isn't that old yet

liquid solid and solidus we're born the same day at this time in the timeline they are about 12 years old even with the aging acceleration solidus still wouldn't even look like that and you remember snake was 23 during operation Shadow Moses

What if it's Major Zero or a clone of Major Zero?
