Hmm wow so I only pay for a game once?
What sorcery is this?

Good for the dev, I will most likely snag this up since I want an F-Zero game pretty badly.

Look at what they said carefully. They might already have plans to create more content but won't start on it after the game launches.

I know this is an unpopular opinion these days, but I don't believe that each and every DLC a company releases was 'cut content', might some do it? Maybe, but we can't be sure. I still believe that most DLC is made after the game releases or is finished after the game releases and that it never was meant to be in the game itself to start with.

Game prices haven't gone up much in the past 15 to 20 years, development teams have gotten bigger though, better graphics capabilities on our PCs and consoles means more time spent on graphics. Faster CPUs means more things are possible like AI and physics to just name two examples. All those people have had raises in those years am sure so games are way more expensive to make than in the past so they need alternative ways to make it profitable. DLC is the answer.

I am actually a huge fan of MK8 DLC. That is DLC done AND priced right.
All my other experience with DLC has been negative.

Nah, am pretty sure there won't be dlc. I was the guy who did this interview. Manfred came over like someone with pretty old-fashioned principles from a gaming era in the past. A good..maybe better gaming era in some regards than today.
