The fourth installment of the Bards Tale series promises magic, music and difficult puzzles but can it live up to the hype?
How did I not know another Bard's Tale was being made?
If you haven't seen it already, this is the in-engine video: https://www.youtube.com/wat... Cannot wait. Loved the first three and played them in the 80s/90s.
I sense this hasn't been as well publicised as most of their other games sadly.
The fate of most Indie games today. Even on N4G, people only focus on the 'big' titles typically. Most Indie games go undiscussed and overlooked by so many. I was surprised when talking to Arthur over at Crate Entertainment (they develop Grim Dawn) that even with a very successful Kickstarter, most people at events had never heard of them or their game.
Any idea what they're doing to try and solve these kinds of issues? I would have loved to have seen Chris Avellone designing a dungeon, just a shame they didn't get the word out.
Unless they have a ton of money to get advertising or get lucky enough to make a game that just stands out so much that everyone recognizes it, there's not much they can do as an independent developer. The reality is, for the mass majority of independent developers, they do not have the hundreds of thousands it takes to pay others to get the word out on their behalf. The only real solution is for gamers to start looking for them and helping to advertise quality independent games and not those like No Man's Sky and Cuphead, who are lucky enough to get the recognition on a major stage during one of the biggest gaming events of the year. That's why I love doing Indie Gaming Month on N4G. Gives us a chance to look at a few of the more than notables, but more importantly shine a light on a lot of independent games you otherwise wouldn't normally hear about: http://n4g.com/igm
If I had a kilt, I'd be donning it for sure. Very excited about this - you can't get much better than Fargo's CV!
Well as a backer of Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera I have no interest in this game. Seems I'm not the only one either. As this is their lowest earning kickstarter.
Big fan of The Bard's Tale; can't wait for this entry!
