'State of Decay: YOSE' is the complete survival package

Matt Ferguson at [email protected] writes "If I had to pick one genre of game that was the nearest and dearest to me, I'd likely have to go with open-world survival games. The games that verge on being a sim because they've managed to grasp so many of the concepts that others were missing, and transport you to a realistic world that you have to master. That's my bread and butter right there. Make it unfair, make it hurt, and make me work for it. That's how I like my video games.

Today I'm here to talk about one game in particular, which is not only one of the best survival games to grace consoles, but one of the best zombie games as well — State of Decay. Since the release of the Year One Survival Edition for Xbox One, I've been spending a lot of time back in Trumbull Valley, and fighting for my life has never felt so good. There's a phrase you don't hear very often."

It's the closest thing to a zombie-apocalypse sim that I've seen... lots of RPG stuff, a surprisingly large map, finite resources and permadeth.

And it's a grim experience... you think you're doing okay - you're two weeks in, some optimistic music is playing and your people are healthy, relatively happy and armed to the teeth - then a horde of Zeds come in force and you lose your three of your best before abandoning your base.

The autosave knows no mercy... but the game's great and it's totally offline, plus it comes with a couple of expansion packs.

A game that was available on XO the first half of 2015, and another reason why I don't think Sony has anything the second half of 2015... because excellent remasters such as ODST and this one do not count as having anything to play. /s

Save your money, get the original. From a massive State of Decay fan. About a year ago I commented on here that I would buy an XBone for this remaster but it's the worst "remaster" to have ever been created. It's shockingly bad.

Devs should be ashamed!

Ok fair enough in that case please explain why people should ignore the fact that this version is far more buggy than the original, looks & plays almost identical although they've ruined it by giving everybody a starting weapon of an indestructable knife & charging at least double the price?

SoD is the best survival zombie game around to-date, but I can't justify telling anyone to spend their hard earned money on this unashamably obvious cash-in.

Make no mistake about it, if the devs had done a better job I would of dropped £300 to pick up an XBone & this game that's how much I liked the original.

Check out the Steam reviews also on PC. The game has got well & truly panned!

I've been playing the original for awhile on 4kPC and it is so awsome.

I didn't upgrade as I can't really figure out what I'm missing.

Now their saying they released a product with multiple issues. Glad I waited.
