MCV: But EA is working with ESA and other publishers to fix it in 2009, says Sports boss
Much as I've never really liked this guy, he does make a very valid point, and we can all hope that the format shifts to make the show have a better 'focus'. If he can help make this happen, then kudos to him.
Can't recall him saying anything I've ever agreed on, but I do this time. This wasn't solely EA's problem, imho, E3 felt soulless this year as a whole.
I have been to 10 E3's now. And the last 2 have been "souless" as he states. Like the air has been punched out of you're stomach. It seems empty and almost as if you are walking through from meeting to meeting in a zombie state. No real glitz or glamour, the excite 'O' meter is on low, where did all the piz zaz go? This new format has to go!!! If I hear of no changes for 09" I will be a no show. On a good note,I will be going to my first "Leipzig GC" in 4 weeks...
Bring back the booth babes. it's been shat since they got rid of the, if nobody noticed.
I agree E3 seemed rushed E3 lost it's spirit for sure. Seemed more like an gatherng of salesmen. E3 has lost it's festive vibe, with the invite only rules and limited media it was stale. They showed a few video's and that was it for content for the gamers, it was like the companies had to go because mummy said so. Me show this U buy now.
And as of today, EA is still soulless. Prove me wrong with Mirror's Edge and Dead Space.
E3 needs to be a spectacle again. Bring it back to the LA Convention Center, with booth babes, madness, and public access in tow. However, I really don't see EA, the king of kings in the realm of generic and boring, as the entity we need to reignite the flame.
E3 would have been better if he would have come up on stage and revealed a tattoo with FF13. On his bald head. After taking an oversized hat off. This guy was a face for MS, i don't think Mattrick fills that gap.
For the first time, I've got to agree with you =)
TGS and liepegz i think will be better this year.
... after all, he sold his when he took that job at EA.
That got to be by far the stupidest thing I ever heard in my life. How the F*ck could anyone believe that changing jobs makes you souless
yea, i'd say peter is an expert at being "soulless"
casual gamers dont give a crap about game expos. Casual gamers dont sit there at work and refresh the live blog for all three presentations. Casual gamers dont go crazy about games. So when 2 of the 3 companies were geared towards casual gamers, what do you expect. Im not going to get excited about anything nintendo does these days or microsofts attempt to get nintendos customers.
I like to play games online sometimes but seriously, people who live, eat and poop video games are soulless, therefore that makes E3 soulless. No life outside of working and playing video games pretty much makes up most of the people involved, obsessed consumers and developers.
Microsoft and Nintendo conferences were soul-less, but Sony's had soul. True gamer innovator soul. PSTRIPPLE for this gen.
the next gen has got to let go of the casual games
