Square Enix Doing Very Well Since Yoichi Wada Stepped Down

In 2013, news reached our ears that Yoichi Wada had stepped down as CEO of Square Enix after a particularly bad report to investors. Many gamers actually felt this was good news for the company, which has been on a downward spiral for a few years now, although the Western studios (previously Eidos) had been doing well. Now, Yoichi Wada has left the company completely, and it seems that gamers’ opinions of his work were justified.

The annoying this he probably still got a massive pay packet and will never have to work again his entire life, despite almost ruining this once great company. :(

zeal0us3227d ago

The same goes for Don Mattrick who ruin the Xbox brand with his "deal with it" attitude.

FullmetalRoyale3227d ago

Look at it like they paid that money to get rid of him.

MasterCornholio3227d ago

Well at least he left unlike some other people in other firms.

Truthandreason3227d ago (Edited 3227d ago )

actually for most of those types of people they get similar jobs at different companies and just get richer. Happens in every business and all you can do is say WTF.

my thoughts are basically your avatar morphing into a radiating smile, rivaling the suns glow.

* These same types keep rotating around businesses ruining one after the other, and somehow keep getting hired.

Always with some corporate money making scheme to milk people of money, no matter what the business is.

Same type of mentality...same type of person, young or old, black or white, man or women.

These are the types of people who ruin great things with their arrogance.

rant over...lol

blackblades3227d ago

Yup one guy can ruin a whole company, same for anything else.

It's just nice to see them getting back on track.

starchild3227d ago

Yeah, for me Square-Enix's conference was excellent. So many games from them I'm looking forward to.

showtimefolks3227d ago

Because he wanted hto focus on mobile gaming like Konami is now doing. I am glad he is gone but he wasn't for gameers

Square have a lot of games coming so that's nice

Just cause 3
Ff7
ff15
kingdom Hearts
dues ex
tomb raider
and much more

If square keeps this up they will once again become one of the biggest publishers in the world. But I hope they don't change their philosophy because they are now being successful

Very glad to have square back

Bigpappy3227d ago

They have already changed their philosophy. That's not a bad thing change is necessary to grow. Half their games are western focused, so they don't have all the eggs in one basket. Not letting the Western publishers own all the western focus market is a smart move for them . I applaud them for stepping out of the shell.

Apollosupreme3227d ago

Well we are getting a FF7 remake. Everyone else before now has basically told the fans to go f'themselves.

Sly-Lupin3227d ago

Not really. Several years ago SE committed themselves to remaking ALL of the old Final Fantasies. But they abandoned the idea after four games.

And those remakes were actually pretty faithful to the source material.

Man_Marmalade3227d ago

I remember hearing about that in the PS2 era.

Apollosupreme3227d ago (Edited 3227d ago )

I remember many sound bites from Square as to why they have not (and will not remake FF7) in the past. So much so that I was totally shocked and speechless when the announcement came.

I played all the games you're talking about. Let's hope they bring more to the table than that because while those were good, I wanted to see something more, something new added like online vs. battles, battle arena like in FF10, etc.

I'd also like to see a "directors cut" for the remake, including some of the things that were left unfinished due to timelines. Any hardcover FF7 player knows about the various loose ends.

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle12d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger12d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag12d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.

Please o please don't turn dragon quest into final fantasy square enix we dont wont that. Dragon quest works well just as it I. Plus you'll piss off Japanese fans to.

jznrpg16d ago

Hopefully they don’t. From this it doesn’t sound like that is the case and development is just taking too long.
