I would love to play Shenmue 1 and 2 remastered on Steam or console. Sega, I would love to play Shenmue 1 and 2 remastered on Steam or consoles.

SEGA, I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY SHENMUE 1 AND 2 REMASTERED ON STEAM OR CONSOLE. HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO SAY THIS BEFORE YOU PUT THIS OUT AND I CAN GIVE YOU SOME MONEY?

Never played any of them are they similar to the yakuza games?

yewles1823d ago

Yes and no, Yakuza is a more straightforward action JRPG while Shenmue deviated from RPG norms at the time with its deep immersion when examining almost every item and being able to converse with EVERYONE you see, the need to sleep, training, Yu Suzuki patented combat system and optional part time jobs are all part of what separates the two IP's.

Similarities are the fact that they have side content such as extra games to play and are similar in scale.

I haven't played them personally, but every site I have looked at has said the 2 are quite similar. I will however be playing both the Shenmue games quite soon, and I love the Yakuza series, so I hope they are quite similar tbh :)

Remastering them then sequel would have been a good move. Instead we got a kicskstarter that is years away and won't live up to hype of many

I agree. Strange thing is I dont remember there being this many people interested in the first two back in the day. Most of the people hyping for shenmue never owned a DC or any sega console for that matter. Some of the same people that were hyping this during E3, bout a PS2 instead of a DC and probably ripped on Sega oners as fanboys do. I say that as a diehard sega fan, who still owns TWO sega saturns and a japanese DC with no region lock on it. Im looking forward to finishing the story arc. As a sega fan I also hope there is not a shenmue 4. it was always intended as a trilogy.

I still have my Dreamcast that's the best gaming console ever.128 bit engine the Dreamcast versions of games looked smoother and more fluid then the ps2 versions of games to me Crazy Taxi, DOA2,MDK and so on. Dreamcast supported keyboard and mouse online gaming whin a detachable 56k modem which meant Sega knew better modems would be available in the future. If Dreamcast stayed in production I would have never gotten a ps2.Too bad Sega was having problems keeping a steady supply of them :( still my favorite console ever!

I hear ya! beleive it or not, the DCs demise is what made me skip the PS2. Like most sega fans at the time, I hated anything sony related, and blamed them for the segas exit out of hardware (lets be honest, we all did). which is why I find it so strange that people were excited for a PS4 exclusive shenmue 3. The old sega head in me just does not want that. Ill be buying it on PC, but I would prefer to buy it xbox. Shoot..it was sage that got me onto xbox in the first place, with jet set radio, shenmue 2 and gun valkerie. And PGR, the successor to MSR.

Dreamcast is the most underrated console ever. Simply ahead of its time.
