Cyberpunk 2077 dev explains the game's early announcement

I dont think CDPR has failed to deliver on a game yet so i completely agree. Judging by The Witcher 3's quality Cyberpunk 2077 will be something really special. They not rushing it either.

Cyberpunk 2077 more than likely won't see a release date before 2019 or later, because they have to finish the 2 year support for Witcher 3 / Expansions first.

Why not both?

CDPR's staff will likely start to transfer to Cyberpunk once they've completed their individual duties for Wild Hunt... and with the money they're making, I'd expect them to bolster their numbers, which would make life easier (with regards to a simultanious development schedule).

Assuming this is the case, 2017 doesn't seem so far-fetched... that said, I'll wait 'till 2077, so long as CDPR deem it necessary.

I still can't work out how they made Wild Hunt with 'only' $32mil... just imagine what they'll achieve with the big $$$.

Quite simply, they don't have enough people to do both, even with a bit of recruitment on the side. Besides, CDPR officially said they wouldn't move on to CP2077 before support for W3 was done.

Bigger doesn't mean better either, but you can read all about that on their official forums. That is, if you have already completed Witcher 3 and aren't afraid of spoilers.

I'm so afraid of spoilers... it's actually become rather inconvenient, avoiding them as I do.

I read Sapkowski's novels while I waited for patch 1.04, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made... Not only did they cure me of a 5 year heartbreak, they also primed me for what has already become my all-time favourite game - which I've yet to finish.

I avoided Wild Hunt's promo material like the Catriona Plague, and I'll do the same for Cyberpunk... may the years of covered ears and 'la la las' be kind to us all!

There is a big difference in the average income, I think that helped a lot.

......you do know the whole entire team isn't doing that right? Thats...thats not really how that works lol. ie All of DICE isn't just doing BF4's DLC, they have a part of the team thats only job is to make that post launch content as how they were able to make Star Wars, Mirrors Edge 2 and likely currently working on BF5.

CDPR doesn't have near as many people working for them as a major player like EA has at its disposal. From the interviews that specifically talked about this, the earliest you'll even see a CP2077 release is late 2018 - 2019.

They already have the engine for it, but this time they're creating a new world and it's a new setting for them as well. Couple that with their idea of removing bugs and you get the idea.

@Rocc- They will still have folks working on pre-production, that wouldn't be currently working on Witcher 3 right now as the game is done, the post launch content doesn't need more assets, sounds, mo-cap other animations, etc for it.

The teams that do post production, most of them only work on the first few years of the game's life.

So fall 2017 is makes more sense based on what they've stated. They also stated they already have parts of the team currently working on Cyberpunk 2077.

I think they will just move them over when they are actually needed in full production.
