Nintendo Insider writes: Nintendo recognised that Metroid Prime: Federation Force “was a tough concept,” and looked to better communicate the game’s appeal in their Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3 coverage.
Ha...that damage control We all know what it is...a quick cash in using Metroids name to boost sales. They knew people had been asking for a Metroid game for a long time and since they haven't got one or at least gotten a game ready to show they probably slapped the franchises name on whatever this game was supposed to be to try and give people what they want. Just like the Animal Crossing ones...
This may not be the game that metroid fans want and it is pretty crap of nintendo to have this game come out before a proper metroid game but I don't believe this game was ever not a metroid game. Next level games were working on a metroid game before luigis mansion 2, I imagine what happened was that nintendo decided to revive that project. It's also being produced by the producer of the prime series. It was clearly always meant to be a metroid spinoff. I'm not sure if that makes things better or worse...
It wasn't a "tough concept." They had an idea for a game, but weren't confident that it would sell well as a new IP, so they slapped the Metroid label on it. Assuming that name-recognition would drive sales. Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but the massive consumer backlash--if nothing else--proves, once again, that Nintendo is painfully out of touch with the market.
^This, this & this! It sucks they are so out of touch.
Reminds me of EA and Battlefield Hardline.
Its now a sin for Metroid to have a spinoff
I... don't think that's relevant to this age we live in. When was the last time anyone cared about committing a sin? Now if you would have said a felony, maybe.
I don't think of it as a sin, more like Nintendo prioritizing games no one has asked for instead of what people want. Say, if Metroid Prime Hunters 2 was announced alongside this game, do you think it would've received that much backlash? Now, if Hunters 2 was announced instead of this game, do you think there would've been a backlash at all?
It'll be a good game I'm sure, Next Level and Nintendo delivers.
Nintendo, you damaged the Metroid name... Again, when will you learn?
A sequel to Fusion would've been a "brilliant concept."
100% agree... I would have died
It's just like the WiiU. People just "don't get it" /s Nintendo just blatantly ignore what the fans ask for and then acts like they know what's best for their consumers. Then they blame the consumers for not being able to grasp their ideas. I swear they are just disconnected from reality.
This is worst than DmC...
“was a tough concept” yet easy to put the true matroid on XN before the console is released than wiiu....K
Previewed really well though
