So, E3 is winding down, and it may have been the best one ever. Here's why Grant Patterson thinks it'll be tough to top.
Very true and it's mostly down to Sony followed by a few of the third party publishers.
From the article. "I'm not going to say they (Sony) "won E3" or anything like that. What I will say is that their presentation and the content of it trumped every other show this year. By miles. By light years, even. Seems to be what most journalist are saying about E3.
Lol, cannot even acknowledge good things.... Both MS and Sony knocked the ball out of the park.... Rocketscience, you would say Messi is nowhere close to being as good as Ronaldo.... Whether you like it or not, MS was huge. There is no negatives.... Sony was huge too, but you know that...
By light years even.... Even the big bombs they dropped could be that far away too... MS messed up not announcing or reannouncing future titles....
What? No wonder you have one bubble. C'mon man. Microsoft had a KILLER presentation as well. Sony and MS both totally put on a show. Between the two we got a great mix of awesome titles and I for one think BOTH of them should be acknowledge for it.
And Bethesda, with their release date for Fallout. *drools* Ubisoft presentation was great too. Sum it all and we had an awesome E3, maybe the best indeed.
It seems like, for the first time in years, it was about the games, and nothing else..... All in all, hands down the best E3 in years....
@RDR I agree with you completely RDR, even though for me Sony's show was my personal favorite, I can appreciate what Microsoft did and after watching their show, I was legitimately shocked at how good it was. I think this years E3 is the best I've ever seen. I think the problem too many gamers have is their minds are already made up before they even see the conferences, one way or the other. Sony only gamers will think Sony crushed Microsoft, Microsoft only gamers will think their show was best. I've even seen many xbox only gamers getting very upset that it seems the vast majority of gaming sites believe Sony had the stronger games lineup. Why get so upset? Are you a stockholder and noticed Microsoft's stock drop following the proclamations of these sites and their Sony preference? I've always bought multiple consoles, and at the moment game on pc, ps4, 360, and ps3. I will probably pick up an xbone when they slim it...probably. But I look at the conferences and think about the games and what I want most, what matters to me is new experiences. Horizon Zero Dawn stole the show for me. When I look at Microsoft, I already know I'm not a Halo gamer, I don't like the series. That's a matter of personal preference. Tomb Raider? I would love to play it, the only problem is I'll still be playing MGSV when it launches, in addition it comes out the same day as Fallout 4 and a week before Star Wars Battlefront. I don't get that timing for Tomb Raider at all. I loved Recore, at least the premise anyway, since there was no gameplay, and I loved Cuphead. The funny thing is, both Sony and Microsoft have so many more games in development, like Rime, or Below, or Inside, or The Tomorrow Children, or Persona 5, or Scalebound...it's just ridiculous. They're both knocking it out of the park.
I feel like overall it was the combination of all the conference that elevated this e3 above all others.....hell Sony alone smash most past e3s... Well the combo of Sony, Microsoft, Bethesda, square enix and kinda ubi helped make this stellar... EA was very very meh and Nintendo's Muppet show left a hole in me... Fallout 4, backwards compatibility, ff7, horizon, shenmue 3, the last guardian, kingdom hearts 3, nier, doom 4, dreams, gears 4, halo 5 final fantasy heavens ward , hololens and project Morpheus were the standouts for me......I definitely forgot some but I know horizon, ff7 and the last guardian actually lifted me from my seat.
Far from it. Nothing spectacular. Lol at Sony fanboys 😂
I kinda didn't like this E3 that much. I just wanted TLG to be announced, nothing else. And then they announced it. And I thought it looked allright but not as fun as I was hoping it would be. The rest of the games were an avalanche of generic overly-produced third person games with lots of set pieces. It all kinda made me feel tired. Sony clearly had the best conference. But none of the games presented at E3 had any lasting impact on me
you're a tough cookie they seriously showed multiple genres.
It just seems to me like games are becoming less and less focused on their gameplay every year (the AAA ones, specifically). So many games now try to do everything at the same time and imo they are losing a lot of "gameplay tightness" in the process. You know that annoying "Do you suffer from open-world fatigue?" ad that's constantly on N4G? I think I may have that, combined with "Too much superficial graphics crap going on" fatigue. I feel more and more attracted to "game" games, rather than "cinematic" games. I prefer games that have clearly-defined and original gameplay mechanics, rather than games that take a standard TPS gameplay and give it a shiny new coat of paint
Sony definitely brought the bombs
I thought Microsoft's conference was better than Sony's. New Ips Blockbusters you're familiar with, releasing in 2015. New Pro Controller True Backward Compatibility. . releasing in 2015 - - I like Bethesda's as well.. Fallout 4 (2015 release) and DOOM demo were nice. -- Sony's. . Horizon and Uncharted 4 gameplay were the highlights for me. Nice to see Guerilla doing something other than Killzone. The last guardian has aged, and it hasn't even release yet. The visuals looks dated. But, there's more to the game than that. FF7 remake, and Shenmue announcement had no effect on me. all POST 2015. 2016 and beyond.
first thing is that most of that new ip aint new ip gears forza aint I don't ever record seeing new ips besides multiplatform games and a few good indies but I do it admit I did love the hololens I could have my own personal 4k tv and for sony most of the games u might not see the daylight of it being on the x1 nobody knows if ff7 will come to x1 and might just be a pc ps4 thing like Shenmue. I don't care about being 2016 or 2017 I just know its on its way! so I think MS = hardware the likes of hololens and I say sony = games
Rare has a new pirate game, and Fable: Legions a new IP. Just like Forza: Horizon was when that released. BC allows for many games from 360 now perform as they should. Some felt too sluggish as the system was around too long.
The BC announcement was huge. After I saw that XBLA games were included, I was a believer. But the only thing that seemed all that great exclusive-wise was Halo 5 and Cuphead. Everything else that wasn't Hololens was sorta forgettable. Also, that controller? $150. For a controller. It's bad enough when fightsticks cost that much. If I wanted to pay that much for peripherals, I'd stick with PC and drop consoles altogether, imo.
The only thing we didn't get was Half Life 3.
Half life 3 crash bandicoot ff Xii remake will be the new holy Trinity of wanted e3 games lol
Sorry for agreeing.
For real. I think that's the only thing that would have made it any better than it already was.
No new Tenchu game. That's the series I want revived more than any other.
Bethesda and Sony showed them how its done
except if you are someone who only games in Nintendo consoles, in that case it was the worst
Nah. Star Fox looks pretty hype. I might jump into a Wii U for that alone. No hyperbole.
