Tomb Raider, Foza6 and Halo4 didn't make the list of best games of E3, but Below and other niche games did. I am cool with opinions, but just wanted to point out want I see as odd.

n4rc1044d ago

its like the oscars..

and the winner is..... a movie youve never heard of and that nobody went to see.. lol

ShugaCane1044d ago

And why couldn't niche games or independant games make the list ?

Dark Souls' is niche and it's freaky fantastic AND successful.

As far as I'm concerned, I am cool with any list that includes MGS V, Fallout 4, Uncharted 4, The Last Guardian and Horizon. We haven't seen much of FF VII so I cannot judge yet. Same goes for Dishonored 2.

But a brand new franchise like Horizon, with such an incredible universe and exciting premise should win some awards. I am so glad Guerilla is putting their talent in something else than FPS. Diversity is good. Horizon looks fantastic. I can't wait to see more.

mikeslemonade1044d ago

Tomb Raider is underwhelming
Halo 5 looked like Destiny
Forza 6 a racing game

You need me to explain more on why they don't deserve it?

Also these awards are boring. The most important award is which one had the best conference. Game of the Show and Best conference are the two awards I care about.

n4rc1043d ago

i never said they couldnt make the list.. but some of these best games werent even good enough to be shown at anyones conference but somehow make it over big popular titles.. (i watched every stream available and never heard of at least two of them)

like i said.. its like the oscars.. the most popular means nothing..

ReconHope1043d ago

"its like the oscars..

Ummm why would the popularity of a game have anything to do with the quality. I guess Call of Duty should win awards by default.

Gunstar751043d ago

@mikelemonade "halo looks like destiny"

LOL - seriously?!?!?

Hahahaha hahaah!

But Microsoft endorsed (oculus deal with FB included) tech was the entire "coolest technology" sector, with oculus beating out Morpheus, so you can calm down, IGN isn't out to kill Xbox.

One-Shot1043d ago (Edited 1043d ago )

You mean best of show? Since all the games you mentioned are on the list.

But yeah best of show has all those indie artsy stuff like Star Wars Battlefront, Uncharted 4, Metal Gear and so on...oh wait.

RocketScienceLvlStuf1043d ago

So Halo 5 didn't even make the best of show. 3 to 4 playstation games did if you include no mans sky.

I swear xbox fanboys have been telling me for months that Halo 5 was going to win game of show hands down and Uncharted 4 couldn't come close.

Why are xbox fanboys always wrong?

HaydenJameSmith1043d ago

So IGN Game of Show which is basically a bunch of opinions didn't give Halo 5 a spot, just shows biased journalism. Completely unobjective. Gears 4 should be on that list at least...

CantBeStopped1043d ago

"Biased journalism" cause they didn't agree with your biased opinion, right?

HaydenJameSmith1043d ago

@CantBeStopped
Doesn't have to agree with my opinion (not even about there opinion) but to not give one MS game a Game of Show or Fallout 4 for that matter is complete BS and you know it. I think Sony had some great announcements and Horizon and UC4 deserve to be up there but so does Tomb Raider and Halo 5...

At the end of the day, proffesional journalism is not about opinion, its about objectivity giving us what was best in the show and the fact Fallout 4 isn't there basically shows it's a bunch IGN staffs opinions.

medman1043d ago (Edited 1043d ago )

@bigpappy
There is nothing odd about it. The games you mentioned are all franchises that aren't really innovating or bringing new things to the table. Of course gamers are excited to play them, but when you've already played so many of their previous installments, they are more of a known quantity. I find it odd that so many gamers get offended if the games they are looking forward to most aren't what the majority of others aren't also looking forward to most.

By the way, my personal favorite reveal of this years E3 was easily Horizon Zero Dawn, and games like The Last Guardian, Unravel, Recore, FFVII, Cuphead, Shenmue, Dreams, etc. etc. would also make my list. But I won't be offended if you like different games.

WellyUK1043d ago

The problem Tomb Raider has is trying to look better than Uncharted which sadly isn't going to happen, but it will be a great game anyway. Forza 6 i wouldn't put on the list unless it was something amazing as it's just another racing sim that looks great which now a days is most racing games in general.

Halo 4 however should be in that list i mean it's Halo.

I understand why gears 4 isn't on there as well since its a long way off.

mikeslemonade, "Halo 5 looks like Destiny" You mean Destiny looks like Halo since Bungie made Halo in the first place... (Facepalm)

Also Dark souls isn't very niche anymore.

Need to remember it's all opinion based as well as one persons trash is another persons gold.

CantBeStopped1043d ago

Perhaps its that those games you think are best really or more niche themselves now then anything else. A lot of people have moved on from games like Halo and Forza considering there are much better games in those particular genres on offer these days.

Just my opinion, many people will disagree, of course:

The Last Guardian ( huge fan of ICO Team)
Ratchet & Clank ( one of my favorite series ever)
Uncharted 4 ( just amazing)
Fallout 4 ( huge announcement and it will be released this year)
Horizon ( open-world rpg, a new ip, mechanic dinosaurs, probably my favorite game from this E3)
Final Fantasy VII remake ( its frickin FF VII)
Star Fox ( another series that i really like)
Cuphead ( really liked the art style)
Kingdom Hearts 3 ( finally some gameplay)
Metal Gear Solid V ( even Kojima trailers are epic)

Could include too: Dark Souls 3, World of Final Fantasy, Super Mario Maker, Just Cause 3, Deus Ex, Dreams, The Rare Collection, Ghost Recon.

One of the best E3 recently.

Phoenix761043d ago

One of the best E3 recently.

Totally agree with you there mate. For me personally, I felt that my run with computer games was coming towards its end (I'm nearly 40 you see), but this year's e3 packed so much of a punch with titles that interest me that I'm actually planning time off work for a few of these titles lmao

Arkardo1043d ago (Edited 1043d ago )

I see an Horizon Hype trend, and that's a good thing, most impressive new ip since long time.

JCOLE131951043d ago

I agree. Horizon blew me away.
