If You Thought the E3 Digital Event was Bad, The Show Floor Was Even Worse

"Last year was my very first year attending E3 in person, and it absolutely blew me away. Not only was I impressed by Nintendo’s E3 Digital Event, but the actual show floor was chalk full of Nintendo titles. The Wii U had around eight titles for display, most of which we had never seen before. While The Legend of Zelda stunned us from the Nintendo Direct, Super Smash Bros. drew massive crowds on the show floor. This year’s show floor reflected the failure of the Digital Event and was a stark contrast to last year’s show."

You know it's bad when NintendoEnthusiast has lost all enthusiasm. I'm sad they missed the opportunity to put a decent Animal Crossing on Wii U. I want this Amibo nonsense to stop already. I play Wii U casually as it is. Totally turned my excitement into disenchantment.

Been going to e3 for the past few years and Nintendo this year has definitely been the most disappointing

ABizzel1977d ago

Nintendo would have been better off sending a drunk on stage and say here's some shigadey for 2015 stumble off stage and put a montage trailer up and call it a e3. At least it would have been funny and had at least on shocking wow moment.

This article is an opinion piece written by Elia Pales and does not necessarily reflect the thoughts of the entire Nintendo Enthusiast staff.

Yea but to be honest the last 5-6 articles from this site have all be super fanboyishly negative.

As a Nintendo fan I was definitely disappointed though.

I expect better from them.

GordonKnight977d ago

I'm disappointed as well. They really needed one more big first party game. Like F-zero or Metroid prime. Also, needed more VC game announcements for the N64 games. We all knew it would blow us away, but even knowing that going into the direct with low expectations, I'm still disappointed.

I thought the new Nintendo rewards program would be announced and Amiibo availability.

Shnazzyone977d ago

It wasn't that bad just tame as fuck after the SONY press conference. Most the big release announcements were 3DS and even those were... okay, alright. Starfox and X should keep me using my wii U in the meantime.

that explains why satoru iwata didn't show up.

GameDev1977d ago

I think its because he has a health condition

BigDuo977d ago

Iwata said before E3 that he would not be attending because E3 this year was held a week later than usual and Iwata has Nintendo's investor's meeting to prepare for next week. However, he also said that if Nintendo went to E3 this year to focus on new hardware unveiling, then he would have made an exception to go despite the investor's meeting to prepare for.

E3 2016 will most likely have Nintendo doing a regular E3 press conference because it will most likely be about revealing Codename NX, at least as an initial unveiling. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean it will come out in 2016 just as Wii U and 3DS did not come out the same year they were first unveiled during different E3 events.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory977d ago

it because he staying in Japan to oversee game development and NX information is next year.

PlayableGamez977d ago

Nintendo picked the wrong E3 to do bad at.

Ark_977d ago

... I think their next is more crucial - revealing the NX.

IrisHeart977d ago

"Hey guys remember how we abandoned the Wiiu?

"PLEASE BUY THIS OTHER CONSOLE!"

Hell no.

Haru977d ago

They won't show anything because they don't care about wii anymore they're focusing on NX now since it's coming next year

Canary977d ago

Uh... no. That's not how it works.

If they're not going to talk about NX until next year, it's not going to be "coming" until the year after. IE 2017.

And it's very likely NX is Nintendo's next handheld, rather than a WiiU successor.

Ark_977d ago (Edited 977d ago )

Could even be their quality of life device ...

Edit: I know they said it's a device dedicated to games, but that's very vague. Could be a biofeedback device with mini games for example. (Something I would buy btw, but certainly nothing the "hardcore" gaming community is longing for.)

WiiUsauce977d ago

“We just fundamentally don’t believe in showing content at E3 that is going to be a long term proposition,” Fils-Aime

Going by that, then NX better come out next year, because I'm sick of these dry ass months on Wii U (not dying though, I own an Xbox One).

On top of that, that's a hypocritical statement from Reggie though seeing as how they showed Zelda last year, and this is the 3rd year they've shown Xenoblade at E3.

The 10th Rider977d ago

I wonder if this whole fiasco started when they decided to delay Zelda. They had said it would be playable at E3 this year, meaning it would of been on the show floor and brought some much needed attention to their booth. It also would of given them something big to close their digital event with. They showed a few things worth mentioning in the digital event, it's just after Star Fox there really wasn't anything with much draw (Mario Maker, but we've seen that over and over and over and over...) Zelda would've fixes that and made the rest of it a bit more bearable.
