Everyone said HoloLens was legit when it was first announced back in January. Needless to say, I was eagerly anticipating getting to try it for myself, and Microsoft's "Halo Experience" at E3 2015 gave me the opportunity to do just that.
"it literally looked like a Halo action figure had come to life and was talking to me, in real 3D space. It was a "Whoa!" moment." "When she got to the bit about how Warzone introduces the occasional AI "boss," a giant Hunter Elder appeared in front of me, again making me feel like a f***ing Halo toy had sprung to life on the table. The HoloLens hype had been real, it turned out." "HoloLens may prove to be the literal game-changing complement to the Xbox console that Kinect always wanted to be but never could." -IGN -Even with his ONLY negative being field of view the overall HoloLens experience with Halo totally blew him away. Ahh man micro keep it up the games adaptation HolLens sounds truly special.
I'm most likely going to get one at launch. Hope the price isn't too high.
The rumor I heard was ~400-500 because of dedicated hardware within the device. Hoping it'll be less
Sega was doing that without glasses years ago (slightly more interactive now, slightly), it's nothing but a cool technology that will have no real use for gaming. I think if it was anyone else doing this the fanboys would realize it's nothing but a gimmick for gaming, kinda like second screen stuff accept likely very expensive. Bottom line not practical for use in video games and I doubt anything will come of it for gaming. Has anyone seen any game play involved with Hololens. No. any kind of concept for game play even. Microsoft smoke and mirrors, remember Milo. VR has more potential for gaming and even that is a long shot for success. Frankly I think it's becoming too fragmented with so many companies wanting to get involved with it. Going to be very hard for any of them to gain market success.
Seems like the software is fairly mature but the hardware (specifically the FOV) needs some work. Still pretty excited about the future.
This is my fear for both Hololens and the VR sets. Look at how much Oculus has evolved thus far. I just know that the moment I spring for HL or a VR set, version 2.0 will hit and improve on everything. Unfortunately, I don't know how long I will be able to hold out on buying into either or both.
This sounds like a great experience. I think there is more to be done with AR than VR.
Like what? Honest question, no bias.
I'm sure it will be expensive. It seems all the VR that will be released will be over $400 when they launch. I'll wait for a lot of games to come out before I drop that amount of money down on one of these.
Am sold , want one
Your easy, they got to show me some Compelling game play and they haven't shown any game play yet.
it will blow my mind with halo space
Day one man!
This is it. This is the prototype for the Holodeck I've dreamed of.
Best of e3
