Nintendo E3 2015 Digital Event Reactions - delight or disaster?

Dealspwn: "Nintendo had a tough decision to make going into E3 2015. Should they go all-out on making the Wii U the ultimate exclusive machine, or should they siphon the biggest games away to the NX?

By the looks of it, Nintendo went for the latter, but at least they brought a few exciting things along nonetheless. Starting with nothing less than a Star Fox sequel from Platinum Games and Shigeru Miyamoto.

Carl and I sat down to analyse one of the most divisive Nintendo press conferences in years, which seems to have split the fanbase down the middle. Disaster? Treading water? Or fun on a bun? Let's get into this."

The games they showed will undoubtedly be fun and the usual Nintendo quality especially if you like RPG's. I don't though and the games i am interested in didnt show up. Like, Devils Third, Project Treasure, Retro Studios new game, Fatal Frame and others i cant even think of right now. Im just hoping that there is an announcement about those games or they show off something else.

Blues Cowboy1249d ago

As a Wii u owner I'm actually pretty happy with what they announced and are announcing via Treehouse/YT, but yeah, I do think they needed maybe one or two BIG hitters.

Dubaman1249d ago

Yeah, what they showed and just going through it all - they did actually show quite a bit. Im just not a handheld gamer and the big hitters they could have showed they didn't. Starting off with Starfox was amazing and that looks like its going to be exceptionally fun. They really did need to address some issues though and im sure there are many but right now all i want to see is Devils Third. We already have a release date for it but hardly any info o.O

This was very worrying. My expectation's weren't high admittedly, but I thought surely there'd be one big surprise in there.

I truly hope they bring out all of their guns for the NX if announced next year.

delight for the 3ds, disaster for the wiiu

BenRage31248d ago (Edited 1248d ago )

While there was some interesting content, half of it won't be released until 2016, so I am slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong--I liked what I saw. But I was really excited to hear about Fast Racing Neo, Devil's Third, and I wanted a real Animal Crossing experience on Wii U.

The Wii U will have another weak year of sales despite the fact that it's a good system.

The 3ds showing on the other hand was pretty cool. I'm sold on the new Fire Emblem, Zelda, Mario and Luigi and Animal Crossing dlc.

Starfox looks awesome!

Sums this up people:

Really sad.

Depend on how much you expected.

I for one didn't expect much.

Of the games I am looking forward to play that got information from the before, during the Digital Event and after.
Star Fox Zero
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Fire Emblem Fates
Hyrule Warriors Legends
Mario Tennnis: Ultra Smash
Fatal Frame V
Super Mario Maker
Yokai Watch
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
The Legend of Zelda Wii U
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Yoshi's Woolly World
Devil's Third

so I'm good. Of course I am hoping they have at least one or two more surprises like last year for the Treehouse Live.

Nintendo has lots of content that is exclusive. But objectively how many of those create the same kind of excitement as the average AAA game. But in terms of sheer content Nintendo gets a B. They were neither bad or good.

fanboysmackdown1248d ago

You're joking hey? What rose colored fanboy glasses were you wearing? That was the biggest pile of dog$hit I ever witnessed.

Knushwood Butt1248d ago

Yeah, it was great if you didn't expect much.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory1248d ago (Edited 1248d ago )

Please tell where I said it was great.

I said "so I'm good" as in I am not Excited or Disappointed.

Just GOOD.
If you can't understand what being good is then I don't know what to tell you.

JuleyJules1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

Complete and utter disaster. I guess the 3DS is struggling though I missed that. It's a good thing the Wii U is outselling everything else so they don't need to worry about it. Otherwise they'd be in big trouble. E3 is NOT the place for some cutesy (???) show that somebody thought was funny! What the hell was that?? The other companies show off games not puppets! Big games would have been enough to offset the cutesy presentation.

BenRage31248d ago

Most people liked the puppet show; it was the rest that let everyone down. I thought the puppet show was very funny and entertaining. I just kept scratching my head every time a new title was announced only to be followed by--coming 2016.
Nintendo disappointed, especially compared to the Xbox One presentation which was awesome.

Star Fox raised my hype. I'm seriously looking forward to that.
Then Federation Force promptly dropped it into the gutter. (seriously, THAT IS NOT THE METROID WE WANTED!)
M&L Paper Jam, thankfully, fished it out of the gutter a bit, and hearing that Xenoblade X is still due this year was very relieving, but overall I'm saddened by a lot of what was shown.

Bayonetta 3 and a proper Wii U Metroid would have been plenty enough to salvage my hopes for this year's E3.

Nevers0ft1249d ago

I can't say I was too wowed by this years Digital Event. Super Mario Maker looks great and although I was hoping Starfox would look a little more polished, I trust Nintendo and Platinum not to screw it up. As for the rest... I don't know where to start. The new Metroid on the 3DS looked anaemic and if I was an Animal Crossing fan I'd be pretty miffed at that Mario Party wannabe. Hopefully Nintendo might reveal some more over the next couple of days but thus far they've fallen a bit flat this E3 for me.
