During Square Enix’s E3 Press Conference, the house of Final Fantasy unveiled a new game developed in collaboration with Platinum Games and Directed by Yoko Taro
Quite a few 3rd party exclusives for PS4... and another one from Square.
Microsoft wasted so much money on Minecraft, instead of investing on 3rd party games or new studios. I don't think Microsoft will ever recover those 2,5 billion spent on Minecraft. Microsoft need to work harder and better if they want to improve X1 sales.
They'll recoup it. Maybe not in actually selling games, but the licensing of Minecraft stuff is definitely going to get them money. Thats assuming that the game doesn't lose interest, as is possible with games that trend for a while.
I wish they'd stop trying to market it with Halolens though. People are putting a lot of hope into a tech that's not going to be priced for mass purchase anytime soon.
I thought Nier was a really subpar game. Even though its a sucess in Japan, I dont remember it being to much of a hit in US and EU. Some spinoffs (sequel or prequel) released only in Japan because of this. Well, I hope its a good game and caters to a new audience and fanbase for a great IP.
A lot of good games aren't much of a hit, commercially.
Nier was superb, in my opinion. I didn't expect- or get- revolutions in gameplay or the best graphics ever, though both were solid. I WAS treated to a great story and amazing music, though, and these two things are right at the top of my importance scale.
Still haven't 'finished' the first one. I still have to do the second playthrough in order to get the complete story. This will definitely give me the incentive to fire it up again.
I never played Nier so I can't judge on whether it's truly mediocre or not, but it does seem to have a following, as it was mentioned during the conference that there are fans requesting a sequel for it.
The key thing here is that Platinum is developing the game more so than which game is getting a sequel anyway because if the game is good people are gonna buy it anyway regardless if the previous entry was merely average or bad.
Did Platinum Games make the first one? Sony really is the new PS2. The title shown was Nier and some incomprehensible text. Could it be a prequel? So many questions!
Square Enix is not coming back. Are you guys watching the same thing I am? No release dates - no real game play - these games are no where NEAR finished. Same crap, different year. I am infuriated at how they can keep doing this and people keep giving them money. Call me when FFVIIR is done. If I am not dead first.
There is salty, and there is intelligent recognition of a company not learning its lesson. I am not going to applaud them for vapor ware and promises. Promises mean nothing to me after the nightmares that were Final Fantasy X, X-2,XIII 1, 2, and 3.
Intelligent people wait to see results. Not praise the pretty lights they think distract the "common folk".
Square seems to be leveraging their products well so I don't see how you can say they're not making a comeback.
They have Tomb Raider, Just Cause 3, Deus Ex, Hitman, FF Type 0, FF Heavensward and Dragonquest Heroes in ONE calender year released and next year they have Star Ocean 5 and a new Final Fantasy game releasing on PS4.
Add in DQ Heroes 2 in development with, Nier, KH and FF XV. That's quite a few releases and games in development so I don't understand what your suggesting even. What other company is releasing that many games in a single year other than maybe Nintendo.
Tomb Raider - Timed XBox Exclusive - a smaller install base.
Deus Ex - Ok?
Hitman - No release date.
FF Type 0 - Only sold what it did for the Episode Duscae demo. My opinion but can we really argue that the Demo did not influence any purchases?
Heavensward - I will 100% agree with you here. They are doing well with that game, but that is one man running one part of their studio. He is the only reason that game is doing well.
Just Cause 3 - No Release Date
FF7R - No release date. No gameplay.
KH3 - No Release date. A little gameplay.
FFXV - No Release Date. The most gameplay we have seen so far.
Nier - No Release Date.
DQ Heroes 2 - No release date.
Releasing what, when? Square is good at making us promises. Always have been. I won't debate that.
Did you actually check your facts BEFORE posting like at all?!
No date for Hit man?! It says December 8th at the end of the trailer.
Just Cause 3 says holiday 2015.
So this year alone.
February FF Type 0 and Life is Strange March Ultimate Stealth and Action Pack May FF X/X-2 June FF Heavensward October Dragon quest Heroes November Tomb Raider December Hit man
That is quite a few releases for one calender year. So again what?! You claim no release dates yet official dates show up in the new trailers. So before painting yourself as 'intelligent' when you can't even find release dates maybe try taking off your goggles.
If certain people can convince themselves that Sony didn't win E3 at their own conference, can we just say that PS4 won this E3? Because I'm counting the new exclusive games, new IPs, and the diversity, and PS4 is killing it.
Harnessing the return of the big PS2 genres. Return of the JRPGs:
Nier 2, Persona 5, Star Ocean 5, Final Fantasy VII Remake, The World of Final Fantasy, Disgeae 5, Dragon Quest Heroes I & II, Tales of Zesteria, Tales of Bersia, Level-5's upcoming JRPG, and Sony Japan Studio's upcoming JRPG.
Nier had one of the best stories I've seen in an RPG...and that second playthrough when your whole outlook gets turned on it's head with new revelations....that soundtrack (youtube 'Temple of the Drifting Sands' for a taster)and that final ending!!!!!! Damn, can't wait for this! Anyone who hasn't played Nier, really shouldn't comment at all
Looks awesome & WILL be awesome for the fact that it's platinum games!!! Can someten fill me in though? Is this a new IP or established franchise? Genre? Is it like Bayonetta or a RPG, if so turn based or real time? Is it a small game or high production like Scalebound? So many questions lol
Oh hell yes.
Square Enix is killing it.
With the devs incredible storytelling and Platinum awesome gameplay. This will be one hell of a game.
Wow.. Looks like Square is listening to the fans! Respect!
It just keeps getting better.
Hope platinum don't turn it in to some super fast action game.
I thought Nier was a really subpar game.
