Good to hear from a noteworthy developer in the industry, excited for the future of XB1

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you proof of how inept a portion of the N4G community is. Blinded by their biases and loyalty to a corporation that wouldn't pee on them if they were on fire. Just to make a pathetic effort to dismiss any positive comment regarding the console their sole tells them must be destroyed.

Clearly I am speaking of the 8 disagrees with TheGreatGamer's comment.

The audacity of people to poo-poo on a comment so simple, genuine, and innocent. That would be like the comment "I like pizza" in a thread about pizza getting several disagrees. We would all know the underlying Calzone and stromboli lobbyists were behind such dislikes.

fiveby93231d ago

Why do we keep having to hear about an API? This strikes me as odd. Clearly MS is fighting a perception of being less powerful and it is hurting sales. But at this point let's just see the real world benefits. All this 'future so bright I gotta wear shades" talk is potentially snakeoil. If you like X1 then buy it on it's merits today not what is promised but not delivered for the future.

gangsta_red3232d ago

"given that there are so many conflicting views regarding the impact of DirectX 12 on Xbox One"

There are a lot more views that DX12 will impact the Xbox One than anything else. It will be interesting to see what it can do for games made with it on the Xbox One.

christocolus3232d ago (Edited 3232d ago )

Not surprising. Just take a look at Fable, that game looks amazing and it isnt even built ground up with DX12.. i'm happy Rare will be using UE4 for one of their unannounced projects. Cant wait.

http://www.gamnesia.com/new...

Bigpappy3232d ago (Edited 3232d ago )

I noticed that too. I think a lot of people are going to shocked at how great Fable: L'gs looks at E3. In fact all the first party games and Tomb Raider will be very aesthetically pleasing.

@crazychris4124: One would assume "We all know its going to get a boost", but here on N4G, some seemingly prefer the head in the sand ass in the air approach to any positives for Xbox one.

vega2753232d ago

@ christocolus

A big part of me hopes that unannounced game from rare is perfect dark. I really miss that game and would love to get one for this gen.

gangsta_red3232d ago

@Vega

I know a lot of people are expecting a new Banjo game from Rare but I really hope it's not Banjo. A new game or even a new Perfect Dark would make me dance through the streets.

christocolus3232d ago

@Vega & Gangsta

Perfect Dark would be awesome. but i actually want a new ip. They are working on multiple projects at the moment so all our wishes could come true.

vega2753232d ago (Edited 3232d ago )

@ gangsta_red

I don't know about dancing in the street. Although that would be fu......you know what. The hell with it. I would do a jig if it did happen.

@ christocolus

You could be right. I just cant wait til monday to find out what they are up to.

Hopefully at E3 we finally get some solid info on DX 12 and X1. We all know its going to get a boost, how much of a boost is the billion dollar question.

Software_Lover3232d ago

Ok.

Let's just end this rhetoric and make good games devs. More pixels does not make a game automatically great, or even good. You have more power to work with, good, now just focus on the core experiences.

Looks like Epic has developed a good relationship with Sony. First there was the news about Paragon, and now their focus on VR in general. Its good to hear, they are a talented team.

Timesplitter143047d ago (Edited 3047d ago )

What's so Sony-specific about Paragon and VR?

S2Killinit3047d ago (Edited 3047d ago )

Its either console exclusive or timed exclusive to PS4 depending on which article you believe. All agree that the very least, it is timed exclusive to PS4, some other articles say its going to remain that way.

As to VR, this article is saying that Epic is going to be doing VR projects. With Paragon being Timed/Exclusive to PS4, it seems like they are working with PS4's PSVR. (at least that would be a logical inference)

psvr3047d ago

I'm your engine is the best I just hope that they can use it for future technology

In the game engine wars, Epic and Unity aim at enabling VR

GB:
Epic Games and Unity Technologies are in a battle for the hearts and minds of game developers. At a time when game budgets are soaring — even for mobile games — and , developers rely on the engine makers to reduce their production costs and make it easier to craft works of art that rival cinema. They’re racing to create better and better versions of game-making tools.

Steam is giving away their VR tools in SteamVR and is also helping developers along the way with their projects.
Im just amazed at the support Valve is giving to everyone. They are really pushing VR to be viable, and that makes me a lot more comfortable in saying that this Tech is here to stay.

joeorc3155d ago

There is a very solid reason, VR now is accessible to even using a smartphone as a core part of the component , but only requiring a housing that has some extra components to put your smartphone with both connected VR experienced today is quite better than it was in its really high cost and bulky electronics to now you can do so with low, to mid to high price points in VR and still even with entry level do d@rn good level of experience with the VR that is better than the top of the line VR that cost you quite a bit more durring the 80' s and now its Viable now.

Its more realistic to invest into it now because there is a low cost alternative to the high price point entry point, but even still the lower price point cab do very good VR. Already.

joeorc3155d ago (Edited 3155d ago )

https://www.durovis.com/div...

This is just one company, the key about why this will work, is unity, unreal already work with Android and iOS for VR!

That's one of the things is your Smartphone already has a robust enough GPU's already on the SOC than can run the engine not stripped down, but the full game engine!

The SOC's in mobile smartphones may not be as powerful as a living room console like the Xbox one or PS4 , but they do not have to be, and that is the main point they are still powerful enough to be even more robust than a ps3 xbox360 so that's why in the speed at which mobile chips are advancing they are more than adequate to do what is needed for VR at least at the entry level, which means many will be able to take advantage if VR for low entry cost and software can be sold for VR at a commodity level already!

That's the real key why VR is now viable low cost and the majority of the hardware needed is already in consumers hands , at least for Entry level VR that is..lol

Man does epic even make video games anymore?

I guess this the same road Konami is taken.

Can u imagine the bid war between MS and Sony for Metal Gear Solid.

NovusTerminus3228d ago

Epic likely makes more money from everyone using their engine.

nirwanda3228d ago

A bit like valve hardly make games anymore but focus all their resources on steam.

Moldiver3228d ago (Edited 3228d ago )

I think epic are more focused on being a graphics tech company now. Letting IPs built on unreal sell unreal for them.between Rod and cliff leaving to pursue games development at MS and going the indie route in cliff's case, who are the noteworthy game producers left at epic? Tim sweeney has always been more of a tech guy than a game designer/producer. so its not quite the same route as Konami, who are pretty much out of console development altogether. At least Epic still builds the engine that powers a lot of upcoming and future games.

"Can u imagine the bid war between MS and Sony for Metal Gear Solid."

wouldnt be worth much to them without Kojima, but with konami out of the equation, I think Kojima would be more than happy to work on another MGS with a console manufacturer, minus Konami.

I think I know who would win a bidding war for that one. Highest bidder wins...how much is the highest bidder willing to pay for it?

donthate3228d ago (Edited 3228d ago )

You can always hire the people, but I think their main issue is their Chinese buyer. I don't think they value video games IP and rather monetize the engine.

It is a good strategy, but in order for your engine to be top notch it needs to answer a need that most of the time can only be found by building variety of games themselves by top notch people.

Spotie3228d ago

I don't think it'd be an issue of money.

Besides, why do you guys think Xbox just has cash to burn?

SaveFerris3228d ago

I would think Kojima might be wanting to do something new instead of Metal Gear after all this time?

IamTylerDurden13228d ago (Edited 3228d ago )

I like how u try to elude to the lie that Clifford B is somehow working for the xbox division by lumping him in with Rod Ferg and saying they both left to pursue games development at ms. Rod works for a ms/xb 1st party and is developing for xbone, Clifford B is working on Bluestreak, a f2p pc game that has no relevance to xbox.

MGS isn't worth as much without Kojima but saying "it isn't worth much" is a misnomer bc MG Rising is a potential big franchise without Kojima - seeing as Platinum Games developed the 1st game.

Kojima can't work on MGS unless Konami sells it. If your claim is true that Kojima would jump on MGS if another company bought it then doesn't that add credence to the argument that the Metal Gear franchise(s) would be worth a lot?

You think you know who would win a bidding war based solely on a companies net worth? Weird bc bidding wars go on constantly for things like exclusivity and 3rd party marketing deals for games like cod, Batman, Battlefront, Battlefield ect and Sony seems to be winning for the most part. Also, companies like to take potential sales into account and the company with twice the install base would have a definite advantage. Not to mention Kojima and MGS have a much richer history with PlayStation than xbox. Also, u would think a Japanese based company would have more appeal to a Japanese developer - it's minor, but a factor nonetheless.

I think The Order came close to photorealism especially for console.

Spotie3228d ago

"Nobody is saying that..."

Directly, perhaps not. But let's not delude ourselves: that's exactly what you and others imply when you say things like what you did. The implication is that PlayStation can't afford to do what Xbox can because Microsoft has more money than Sony.

For all you know, Xbox is out of acquisition money for a while after picking up Minecraft/Mojang and buying timed exclusivity of Tomb Raider(the former a larger hit than the latter, monetarily). So IF MGS were to be up for sale, Xbox may not even be in the running.

It happens all the time, but people keep thinking Xbox=Microsoft, that all the money the latter has is at the former's disposal. ESPECIALLY with Xbox not doing as desired, what makes you think investors would be willing to spend still more money on something not guaranteed to bring them returns.

We all know Microsoft has the most money ever Zzzzz... but only Xbox fans think every penny of that can and will be put to use for Xbox.

They're currently working on Fortnite. They typically only make one game at a time. If they have two games in development then one of them is usually outsourced to another company(like console versions of Unreal Tournament last gen). Otherwise, they're primarily focus on their game engine.

....I don't get it? Does N4G need to article on it for it to exist to some of you?

Please...even if just for a bit, look up games outside of N4G please as it seems many on here don't realize the outside world exist. Many seem to live by what they read on this site vs the world lol

DeadlyFire3228d ago

Konami has 3 or more titles for 2015/2016. MGS V, PES, Yui Ge oh.

Epic has Fortnite.

Engine licensing makes good money.

A lot of power left PS4/XB1? Well duh. We haven't even hit that Year 2 yet.
Many games still have last-gem versions holding them back.

If anyone really thinks we've seen what PS4/XB1 are capable of yet, they are seriously delusional. This gen hasn't even gotten started yet.

RonsonPL3228d ago (Edited 3228d ago )

You're right. We just broke the 20fps limit with a game that wasn't hold back by the old generation - AC:Unity.
We can still go for 10fps and 5fps, so such game really shows the potential of PS4/Xone.
And if you didn't see what PS4/XB1 is capable of yet, you should go to gamersyde and watch the Uncharted 4 gameplay demo. From "this will be running at 60fps" said in 2014, they improved to "we'll try to hit it, but we might not be able to" in just a year! Let's wait another 9 months so we can see the full potential unleashed (by locking to 30fps instead of 35-40 the U4 demo had).

Naughty Dog are the best of the best, but you say they don't know how to harness "the power" of PS4 during a whole year. Many other devs needed to downgrade their games, so the change is visible - but not in the direction you wanted. The miracle won't happen. The best they can do is to achieve that 60fps, but there's absolutely no chance the game will look significantly better at the same time. And no other game will, because it's ND we're dealing with. They deserve their reputation. There's really no better team in terms of squeezing the most of given hardware.
That's because PS4 has x86 CPU and a GPU well-known to PC devs. This E3 is the last E3 to show any improvements for this generation. Deal with it.

iTechHeads3228d ago

"This E3 is the last E3 to show any improvements for this generation."

LOL!

Tontus3228d ago

You talk so much rubbish.

someOnecalled3228d ago

You're gonna get banned don't talk like that here, especially about sony. Suddenly x86 is some type of new architecture and is gonna take a decade to learn

Shineon3228d ago (Edited 3228d ago )

Wow Don't Hurt Their Feelings Man They Didn't Need To Hear That Truth lol, Let's Keep It real tho Ps4 had trouble running last generation games at 60 fps,GTA 5 comes to mind.Hell it has problems with 1080P as well, battlefeild comes to mind, keep in mind these are games that run on ps3 and 360 how and the hell are they struggling with their little brothers homework? These consoles were all hype man just hype

I would rather the "Tremendous Effort" be focused on something else...

Gwiz3228d ago

I'm pretty sure a game like The Witcher 3 is not affected by the 7th gen.
These devs would have to explain in detail why there's many resources not
being utilized.I can't see these hidden resources.Like the PS4,you wanna tell
me they were held back with their exclusives so far?.
