CD Projekt Red announced that their newest critically acclaimed game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sold four million copies of the game in two weeks. With review scores of 90+, it's a milestone that the team behind the game is happy to see.
Well deserved Great game
And it deserves more Amazing game! Still playing it even now, many hours, days and days after release, and amazingly it's still holding my interest!
One of the best games I played my entire life, well deserved.
lol there's some drunk person pressing disagree by accident, its the only explanation.
Amazing sales figures! 4 MILLION in just 2 weeks! Well Deserved. Still playing this masterpiece after 14 days of game time!
BTW i have a question where do i find this outfit in the game ? https://img.youtube.com/vi/...
Yeah, I'm still in the thick of it. The game is really good. Definitely one of the highlights of the RPG genre. I hope it continues to sell very well.
@Ezz As far as I can tell, minus the cloak, that outfit is the starting armor. Watch the "killing monsters trailer" when he takes the cloak off and you can tell. If you are playing on pc you can download a mod to make the starting gear a lot better, like the other witcher sets.
im still level 10, just roaming around doing whatever. its such a great game.
My in game timer says 7 days played. Should I be worried?
I don't understand all of the praise. The game is a buggy mess with game breaking bugs to the point of being unplayable for many. If you don't have an internet connection the game is truly un-useable. Those with internet get graphical downgrades with every patch, the graphics get worse and worse, at least on PS4. http://forums.cdprojektred.... The game may eventually be good after it is finally out of user provided beta-testing. As it is it still needs a lot of work. The success just tells devs it is ok to release broken games, it will still sell and there are no consequences.
Congrats CDRP. Well deserved. Best game this gen so far.
Hope it sells 4 million more. Best rpg ive played in about 5 years.
This game is amazing and deserves game of the year, i have played over 30 hours and still have plenty to do and to think i wasn't going to bother getting this game, shame on me :(
I played 50 hours already and haven't even been to Novigrad lol
One of the best games ever. Definitely top 5 of all times for me. Well deserved!
Very good game indeed. I am glad is selling so well and I guess Sony is happy too since most of those sales are on PS4 and they didn't even pay for a marketing deal.
dude why people like you have to start some thing. how many platforms have the game release on. how do you know it sold more on the ps4 can i get a link if not plz dont type shit you don't know .btw pc&ps guy no fanboy here
Don't pay him no mind. The Order Flopped and bloodBorne has wore of now. They didn't have nothing else to play right now. Batman should be epic though no doubt and take the crown from the witcher.
"They didn't have nothing else to play right now" There hasn't been a exclusive game on Xbox in the last 6 months lol. You have no room to talk, DoubleM70.
Epic well deserved. A game that im still in love with after 160 hours spent on it already! Which version sold the most? It should be Xbox One since Microsoft payed CDPR for marketing rights and first on Xbox One DLC rights. But my guess is the Playstation 4 version that sold most.
Huh? There is no timed dlc and no one cares about marketing deals. It sold way more on ps4. More users it's pretty simple. Split was large too. If it is not a shooter xbox don't seem to care
Oh the irony. Wasn't it PS4 who had the exclusive marketing rights for that shooter Destiny? scientific reasoning.. my plums.
I'm guessing the PS4 version sold the most especially since its install base is much larger than the XB1s. Anyways there's no exclusive DLC for the XB1. Just marketing rights.
Witcher 3 On Steam sold 575,000 http://steamspy.com/app/292... steamspy doesn't count private profiles. margin of error might be 10,000 sales but it's very accurate considering GOG their own store which had witcher 3 PC at 50$ and GMG(which sold this game at loss for 30$) and tons of other stores, physical sales of PC PC- 1.3M PS4-1.7M Xbox one-1M or PC - 1.5M PS4- 1.5M xbox one-1M Why low xbox one numbers Recent report shows that AAA Games sell better on PC(considering this is a PC franchise) than Xbox one with PS4 taking lead. http://www.dsogaming.com/ne...
Where are those figures from?
@Lon3wolf from his arse.
Wrong, WiiU sold maximum copies, but because of PC and especially PS4 and XBONE they had to downgrade the WiiU version. The WiiU sales are probably even higher, because nowadays people on that platform buy mostly digital copies.
Make a great game and it will sell well because of word of mouth. People pretend only COD will sell in the market climate
If only that were true... Ico Shadow of the Colossus
and these as well... Okami, Armed and Dangerous, Voodoo Vince, Alien: Isolation I really wish quality games could get by on word of mouth alone, and It helps that Witcher 3 is capitalizing on an extremely popular genre/theme. a game like Okami, for example, where you play as a wolf in a cel shaded world, drawing with a magic paintbrush to kill creatures is a niche as they get. But an incredible game, nonetheless.
While it does suck that some great games (like the ones mentioned) don't sell what they should for the quality they represent, the reason is because they are fairly niche titles. The Witcher 3, being a western RPG (and a sequel to other well-received games), isn't really all that niche, as the genre is fairly popular. Anyway, great news for The Witcher, definitely deserves it, and hopefully more.
Different age we're in. The internet makes the world a smaller place. Things like P.T., Bloodborne, Dying Light etc blew up because of the internet
That's only half true . People exagerate with the doom and gloom , but we all know good if not great game that went under the radar . I just dont feel like blaming Cod or other popular stuff for it . It's sophistry to believe that without those giants , smaller games will sell better .
Not surprised the game is amazing
Just beat it last night, took 57 hours and i still have so many side quests & areas to explore, fantastic game.
Serious question. Do they also count copies that were given away with the purchase of an Nvidia graphics card? That's how I got mine.
These are the most humble, yet talented devs in the industry. Well deserved and hopefully Cyberpunk 2077 does similiarly well if not better.
Doesn't this game have a relatively tiny budget too (~$20-25 million)? If so, they just made a killing. EDIT: I'm seeing that it cost $40M when coupling development and marketing budgets. Well done, CDPR. Much deserved.
They deserve it,great game and tons of content. Congratulations to them.
Excellent news , for them and for gamers.
Such an Amazing Game! I love it!
I'm interested in how much it sold on each platform individually. I'm guessing about 2 million on PS4, 1.5 million on Xbone, and .5 million on PC.
Lol. 500k on pc? Just no.
I was going to wait to get this game, but since Target has a sale right now for Witcher 3 at $41.99 for xbox one and PS4. Then I will definitely pick it up. you can also go to Walmart or Best buy and demand to price match, they will most likely do it.
I'm board of this game. I don't really know why. I'm lvl 22 now and it just seem like a chore
Awesome, playing this game now and I am completely impressed with how huge the world is. Not to mention the characters and lore of this game.
Good for them, they deserve every penny.
so that puts them ahead of all recent bioware games does it not? If not im sure they are on track to do so.
Said this in another thread, While I am slightly disappointed that Andrzej Sapkowski decided to end those epic books of Ciris and Geralts story on a video game, it has been an absolute pleasure to play through (not finished it yet). Well deserved sales for the hard work put into it.
