E3 Floor Plan Reveals Large Booth for Oculus, Sony

VRFocus reports on the reveal of the E3 floor plan, which features large booths for both Oculus VR and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE).

The story is too old to be commented.

Wonder why Sony was singled out in this title. Nintendo has a large presence there with 3 booth spaces of their own, and MS has a massive space.

"VRfocus" is the name of the site, as MS and Ninty aren't offering any VR headsets at the moment, I imagine that's why?

Neonridr927d ago

ahhh.. good catch. Never made the connection. I believe you are probably right.

I read that supposedly PM to launch early next year. Its very possible Sony will have major focus on PM this E3.

MS seem to have smallest total area.

I still do not think VR is going to work for LONG gaming sessions. Headache, eye strain etc. I like well done 3D movies, Avitar, Gravity, etc. I thought I would like 3D games, and I do somewhat, but only for short periods.

I think VR, is going to look amazing, but I also think more than 30 min with the head set on will be a literal headache for many.

Please do not take this as me bashing VR, because I want it to work, I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Does anyone know what developers and people who have access to these VR headsets, say about gaming sessions with the headsets?

Hell yeah I would love to try it, and I bet it kicks, but for how long? A 5 min demo at E3 is not the same as trying to play a two hour COD session at home.

well many people with the DK1 & DK2 versions of the Rift have posted videos of them playing games. I would imagine that using the headset may not be as bad as say glasses on your TV screen at home since the tech inside the helmet is a little more reliable than what you see coming from the TV manufacturers.

I can't wait to see more of the Rift and Morpheus. While VR gaming may be a niche market, the right games can really make these headsets shine.

I've watched over a dozen of you tube video of grandpa and grandma trying out the oculus for the first time and laughing their head off like they were a little kid at the play ground. With that being said, I don't see any of them complaining about headaches.

I have deep faith that VR is going to be a big hit.

Look I don't mind VR but they really should have their own events for it until it becomes more established within the gaming community. They've just wasted floor space and I'm scared for Sony it means wasted time spent in their E3 conference

OB1Biker927d ago

yea we can expect major announcement for Morpheus but similarly Ms will spend some time with Hololens amd Windows
As long as they make their conference last longer like they did last year actually thats cool

sonicwrecks927d ago

They do have their own events. :) VR is happening in a big way this year and there's a lot of investment from the companies concerned. Whilst you may not be interested they certainly are. Remember it's the Electronic Entertainment Expo - not the Electronic Games Expo. Ignore it as best as you can if you're not interested.

I bet you'll find most VR games support non VR as well so space won't be wasted. GT7 for example will likely be one of these.

it also shows large areas for Microsoft and Nintendo..

sonicwrecks927d ago

Its a VR website. Nintendo aren't involved in VR, Microsoft is still working on VR things and Sony and Oculus are heavily involved.

DragonDDark927d ago

Microsoft is working on AR not VR.

I hope they don't demo morpheus on the stage. Hopefully they just, upload videos from the floor of people using it. But if they do I hope they shoe something new
