JRPGs are a mainstay in the world of video games, and whats not to love? Incredible stories, deep immersive worlds and complex battle systems, these games have it all.
Grandia is one of my favorites and great game out there and i see no mention of it, poor.
for me, the truth about Grandia is this; the gameplay is fun, the music is fantastic (main theme is one of my top) and the story is among the most intriguing.. up until you cross that wall. the game succeeded in hyping your wildest imaginations eagerly wondering what lies on the other side but once you're there it loses its momentum quite fast and the story takes a back seat. and that final Boss, damn is among the most disappointing.
Chrono Trigger, Mother 3 and Pokemon Heartgold <3
No Tales of Symphonia no Baten Kaitos weird!?
I keep seeing those mentioned together... After how much I loved Symphonia, I better try Baten Kaitos already!
Baten Kaitos its a must ,but see some videos first because the combat system its not for everyone.
I don't know if i could name a top 10. There are too many i like. Dragon Quest 8, Shining Force 1 and 2, Eternal Sonata and Phantasy Star Universe are definitely up there though.
I loved Eternal Sonata and I wish someone makes a game like it.
Secret Of Mana, Earthbound, FF VI....great games here!! Happy to see Chrono in 1st place, it worth it!!
ff 6 definatly best of all time
Obligatory mention of Lost Odyssey. It's a shame we won't see that continued, or Resonance of Fate.
Both of those games are so underrated. It's a shame they didn't sell better. I wasn't expecting Resonance of Fate to be a HUGE hit, but it certainly didn't help that SEGA released it in the same month as Final Fantasy XIII.
Ugh watchmojo tends to make some of the worst top 10 lists. Kingdom hearts over suikoden2 and persona4 is laughable at best
Where I place the games on WatchMojo's list: 10) Secret of Mana: Not listed (I've only played the very beginning) 9) Suikoden 2: 11th. I've played TONS of JRPGs, so even though I've place it lower than WatchMojo, that's still very high on my list. 8) Earthbound: Not listed (Just not my style) 7) Persona 4: Not listed (Haven't played it. But, I may play it, if Persona 5 grabs my interest) 6) Kingdom Hearts: 37th (What can I say? ARPGS are my least favorite sub-genre) 5) Xenogears: Not listed (Haven't played it. Not a fan of mechs, and I hated the Xenosaga trilogy) 4) Dragon Quest 8: Not listed (Haven't played it. I've only played DQ 1-5. I've been demotivated to continue with the series, by the lack of a DQ7 3DS localization...) 3) Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal: Not listed. (Not my style) 2) Final Fantasy 6: 4th 1) Chrono Trigger: 12th
Your ranking for these games is interesting to say the least. What would be your top 10?
First of all, I'm not using the "one game per series" rule. So, that might explain a lot. Here's mine: 10) Chrono Cross 9) The Last Remnant 8) Skies of Arcadia 7) Final Fantasy 9 6) Suikoden 3 5) Final Fantasy 8 4) Final Fantasy 6 3) Final Fantasy 10 2) Final Fantasy 7 1) Shining Force 3 Edit: Also, as you can see by my #1, I include SRPGs.
@kalkano You get my recommendation for putting Shining Force 3 on ANY list.
@Spikeantestor: Even a "worst games ever" list? Bwahaha. I kid.
I can't believe that you haven't played DQ 8, you really should play it, it is an absolute gem of a game. Turn based JRPG at it's best.
I need to play 6, and the 3DS remake of 7 first. I know they're not story-related; it's just how I am.
I played half of this list, but the only game I had fun with and finished was Chrono Trigger it's an amazing game.
Lost Odyssey. Yes.
Very underrated game. The first game i ever bought for the 360 too.
It's hard to name a top 10 because there's so many good ones but oddly I can name my top 3: Chrono Trigger Super Mario RPG Earthbound
what persona 4 is not on the top 3, this list makes me puke.
Persona 4 Golden.
