UGO writes: "Poor Sonic. The speedy, blue hedgehog who once butted heads on equal ground with the likes of a plumber named Mario has more recently been relegated to gaming's filth-strewn gutters, sharing space with the likes of Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis and Hour of Victory. Gamers can be forgiven then for looking on any coming Sonic release with mistrust and even a little bit of fear. From the confines of their booth at E3 2008, Sega did their best to assuage those worries with a short hands-off demo of what we can expect from the soon-to-be-released Sonic Unleashed.
The first thing to know is that the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 versions of Unleashed are powered by a proprietary engine, aptly named Hedgehog, which has been in development since 2005. The game employs a mix of 3D and 2.5D in a roughly 60/40 split. Wii and PlayStation 2 versions are also in development, but we didn't get a look at either of those."
