The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Review – A Song of Nice And Ire | Thejimquisition

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is huge.

This isn’t just hyperbole – it’s perfectly ridiculous how massive this damn game is. The world map is one of the largest I’ve ever seen, and the content within is densely packed. I’ve spent hours upon hours with The Witcher 3 – I’ve spent days with it – and I’ve still so much left to do. Even the main story missions splinter and diversify as you go through them, like an habitual Wikipedia reader opening more and more tabs. This is to say nothing of the monster hunting contracts, side quests, treasure hunts, and random events littered throughout the war-ravaged continent.

Idk what it is, but when I play an open world game, I tend to enjoy it less if I don't have the ability to create my own character. Sure, this can have an adverse effect on story, but I feel much more immersion in having the main character be "mine".

Understandable, I have that too in a different way. I'd rather have a voiced set character like Geralt or a non voiced personal character like Dragon Age Origins. DA2 and DAI always feels a bit weird since you make your character but their voices always makes it less yours.

But in this story and setting, I think creating your own character would diminish the game. Perhaps in a spin off Witcher game it could work.

I love this game so far. I got it monday and can't put it down.

Off topic but can anyone tell me if there's a way to tell how many hrs I've played on the PS4. It's hard to tell just by looking at my saves as I over write the same save files.

Check your beard, mine usually starts to itch after about 144 hours of growth. Its not the most accurate measurement of time but its better than nothing.
