Bill: Our initial impressions about the PS4 and Xbox One versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
It looks the same to me.
Except the pixel count, both versions are almost twins.
Unless you have two TV's standing right each other then you will barely notice the difference. CDPR made an excellent job optimizing the game. Respect!
Why do people keep saying this? " UPDATE 19/5/15 14:03: We've now had the opportunity to test the 1.01 patch on PlayStation 4, and can report that the FMV stuttering issue introduced in the Xbox One day one patch is much less of an issue on the Sony platform - video playback is much more consistent. Engine visual settings appear to be a match between the two consoles but curiously, the PS4 version does appear to run with a capped 30fps, giving a more consistent update than its Xbox One counterpart. We can also confirm native 1080p resolution throughout." http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... They are not twins.
@ Transistor, Im sure CDPR will come out with a stability patch for X1, they did say they were working on that one up too last minute vs the PS4 which reviewers had out for a week or 2 before release. If the X1's framerate stutters between 30-40fps I don't see a problem for them capping it at 30fps in the future. Besides that and the native 1080p on PS4, they looks identical graphically.
The PS4 version seems to be capped at 30. Since, the Xbox One goes over and is not capped, it would seem the reason it's not capped at 30 is because of the attempt for "dynamic resolution". It just makes sense.
They should make the X1 version 900p and cap it at 30fps, problem solved. Who cares about tittle screen and cutscenes at 1080p if the rest of the game is just 900p. @Transistor "They are not twins." Yes they are, only that one of them is slightly faster ;) @below "It's 40% more pixels from 900p to 1080p. That's a fact, regardless of your opinion." 44% to be more accurate, but the difference in reality is not significant. Most people can't tell the difference anyway. I remember seeing some people saying they could noticed the Dynamic resolution on the game, little they knew the game is 99% at 900p. People some times see what they want to see.
I completely think they should cap the resolution and frame rate on Xbox One. Games that run at different resolutions are not twins, no matter how bad you want them to be. It's 40% more pixels from 900p to 1080p. That's a fact, regardless of your opinion.
Absolutely, Fantastic game. Performance is also good.
720p video comparing games that run at 900p and higher... Seems like a good idea. Edit: Looks like it was YouTube processing.
Then maybe we should stop comparing the game and start enjoying it?? :) That sounds like an awesome idea.
Must have been processing! It's now 1080p and 60fps!
because it is pretty much the same. The game looks great on everything.
@Transistor we did not see any stuttering issues during FMV sequences. Both versions were running silky smooth. They are almost twins. Similar graphical assets, draw distances etc. If 1080p really matters for you, go for the PS4 version but the Xbox One version is fantastic as well.
No offense, but I don't think you know what your talking about when it comes to these things. Gamersyde says the Xbox version stutters, Digital Foundry says it stutters and NXgamer says it stutters. Gamingbolt says it's silky smooth. They all have frame capturing tech, do you?
Teansistor - stfu and go away. Seriously. You contribute nothing. EVER.
@transistor it's a sad state of affAirs when you need a site that has frame capturing tech to Prove a point. You are of course correct, no one here has that tech so in reality you argument is mute.
I own a ps4 but I think xbone looks better.
Nah the ps4 version is sharper and has better colours and contrast.
Imaginary PS4s don't count.
no you don't go away! Shoo!
Only difference that i can see is that the framerate seems more steady with the PS4 version than the Xbox One version especially during the horse riding part. But graphically they look almost the same.
Been playing since Saturday and still not found basic beast oil diagrsm. I have advanced ones but can't use them without the basics. Does anyone know where it is?
I haven't found any but then again, i just got out of white orchard lol. Too busy running around to those stupid question marks. I did buy a few diagrams, and alas have no money to every repair anything but my sword
I found it about half an hour after writing this. Won't say where in fears of spoilers but it wasn't hard to find.
Where is the Atari 2600 version?
To think, I could be playing this game right now.. But clearly watching educating joey Essex is more important.. Might have to dump the girlfriend!
Or turn around and smash your face against the wall. ( I'd take the wall) Need to clean some space on my hard drive before I can enjoy this game
PS4 is more sharp but both look great.
To be fair I downloaded the game last night for the Xbox and was not impressed with the overall appearance of the game until I adjusted the picture settings on my LG. I have to say it looks fantastic now!
pin sharp ps4 version vs blurry version with crushed blacks
Thanks for trolling, come again.
at 2:30 on the wall u can see the trees shadow but it isnt on the ps4 version.
Because the time of day is a bit different. The tree shadow is there just a different angle and spot. Look at the shadows on the building and on the X1, the fence area is also all in shadow but is not on the PS4. These videos show different times of day a lot, one where there is sun coming through the trees but the PS4 is a different time lacking the sun in that spot too. That doesn't mean the PS4 lacks sun! It was a dumb video comparison. I am surprised how often they screw it up. If you compare, compare at EXACTLY the same times!
